    Fujitsu S1300i reviews

ScanSnap S1300i Document Scanner is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 89.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from snappy indeed This is the second one of these scanners I've purchased, I scratched the glass on the first one by accidentally putting some staples through it, which resulted in fine lines appearing in all subsequent scans. But that was my fault, and it's a great little scanner. Packs away in a shoebox when not in use. The document feed handles different sizes nicely. The speed is good, and it's just as quick when doing double-sided. The interface on my Mac is easy enough to figure out, I am not terribly tech-savvy and I can still fine-tune things without reading any instructions. I've been scanning a bunch of scrapbook stuff in, a mix of newsprint and photos, and it handles all well. I'd previously been using a higher-resolution flatbed, thinking I needed that for historic photos, but I now think the best-quality on the ScanSnap is fine as long as I'm not blowing things up a lot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Portable workhorse. This is my second S1300i, the first which I bought 3.5 years ago an can now use some loving. I took it apart and cleaned it myself and it now works fine, so I'll keep it as a backup. I use this unit each workday, scanning anywhere from 5 -20 sheets each workday in my office. I also carry it with me to client appointments, and scan client statements on the spot - plugged into my laptop or tablet for power - so no power cords needed (I know I have a power cord, but have never used it). Scans two sides quickly, and I save everything to .pdfs on my laptop/tablet. Paperwork gets shredded. Indispensable to by business for 3.5 years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This scanner Rocks! It is small, fast, and the duplex scanning and the OCR work great. I converted some hardcopy documents into editable Word document in no time. The technical support is great too. I was getting an error message on one of my scans. I called the technical support and a very friendly and knowledgeable person spent some time with me on the phone until he found that my computer was missing a file. Originally, I wanted to buy a NeatDesk scanner, but after watching a YouTube video comparing these two scanners, I decided to buy Fujitsu S1300i because it does a better job in recognizing a skewed image and correcting it. So, my scans come out straight. I love this feature.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works without a hitch with my iMac This is a great product. Would gladly recommend. After unboxing and installing the software (which took longer than it should) I have been very happy wiht the results. The integration with Dropbox and other applications works very well. My gripe: I'm not sure why most consumer electronics companies can't take a lesson from @ on documentation, installation and packaging. For example, is there any reason why I shouldn't be able to go to the Fujitsu website, specify that I am an english-sepaking Mac user , and be able to print one .pdf with the instructions & documentation that are relevant to me? That simple process would eliminate 90% of the printed pages i'm forced to deal with in the box. Just a thought.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Doesn't work as advertised, well, as expected. Unlike the S1500 or ix500, this thing won't take a group of oddly shaped pieces of paper. So if you have a perfect multi-page (and not too many) this works fine. But I had a stack of checks with envelopes, which the ix500 would eat right up - a bunch of different sized pieces of paper. Well it turns out if I sort the checks in decreasing paper size, they'll at least go through. But then you need Adobe Acrobat to rearrange the pages, and guess what that comes with the ix500. If I had known, I would not have tried the model and stuck with the larger, but more versatile, ix500. This may be destined for a garage sale.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for home use The S1300i Is the best small scanner I have used. I had the older version of the IX500 in my office and it was great. When I retired I wanted a scanner for home use but could not justify the $ for a home scanner. The S1300i was only $ and for home use was just what I needed. It is fast, easy to use and copies both sides at the same time. You can pay more and get more or pay less and get less. Howerver If you want a good high quality scaner at good price the S1300i is the way to go. You could use this scanner in an office if you only want to scan the occasional document that are being sent or received. If you want to scan everthing and go to a paperless office buy the IX500.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Much better product than S1100 I used the S1100i before but which is only one-sided scanning capability, so that I turned into this S1300i which can scan double-sized page (and the software will eliminate blank pages for you intuitively). I'm using it to scan some of my hard copy nature boos by turning them into pdf format. The scanning time is fast, about 46 paper (812 pages) scan per minutes. Therefore, scanning a 150 leaflet (300 pages) only cost for 1520 minutes (by using attached power supply to get maximum speed). Very well done with speed and ease of use the software.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Scanner but a few faults I purchased the ScanSnap S1301i as a replacement for a single sheet scanner, which is limited. I wanted to do multipage and duplex scanning. The ScanSnap is a nice unit but, unfortunately, I do have problems with several type documents that I scan. Foremost are those ubiquitous thin as all heck receipts you get from most stores. They are often long and it is quite difficult to get them to stand up in the tray. I tried using it as they show in the videos and web site, but have not been too successful. I have varying luck with other size paper and most often it works fine. I do like how it attempts to straighten out a misaligned feed as well as correcting a skewed image. Another thing that bugs me is the software for the Mac. While it is good, it is not as robust as the Windows version. Everything they show in the videos and on the site have top facing scanning being done. This is great but on the Mac, I found out that this option is not available. The extra software provided with the Mac is also not as robust as that for the Windows version. I went with the ScanSnap based on the recommendation of my favorite Mac podcasters. After I purchased the unit, a friend recommended another brand which appears to handle various paper sizes by using fixed paper sized chutes and a much more robust Mac version of their software. Had I known about this product, I would have done a bit more research before purchasing the ScanSnap. Overall it is a big improvement over the previous unit I owned but still is not my ideal. I did install the PC software via Parallels and it is indeed more impressive.
