Plastic Storage Tank (2 Gallon) with Floating Lid Reviews

Keeps chemistry fresh

Very happy to have this in my darkroom as it keeps my developer fresh and without oxidation. The top lid doesn't fit exceptionally well unless the tanks is filled with at least 1/2 gallon of chemistry, as the floating lid doesn't fit well at the bottom of the tank. Easily solved by adding more chemistry.

Nice and very handy

This tank is very neat. It resembles a large coffee maker in size and appearance. The floating lid makes it possible to mix and store film developer in one tank. It is a good size for the 5 liter package of X-Tol developer. So, if you are wondering about a container to mix and store Xtol, this might be what you are looking for. It could also work well for other things such as fixer. Because of the floating lid, oxygen does not seriously interact with your developer. This promotes maximum life of the developer, and you do not need a bunch of storage bottles. The spigot is not attached when you get the tank. You will need to install the included spigot yourself. This does require one or more tools such as a large crescent wrench or channel lock pliers.

Is there a right way or wrong way for the floating lid to be inserted?

The Doran Plastic Storage Tank (2 Gallon) with Floating Lid and Fast-flow Faucet has a lid that just snaps on. The lid won't completely seal, it needs some air to go in to allow for the faucet to work.

Do these tanks, both 2 gallon and 5 gallon versions, packaged as “tank only”, include any sort of lid?
Asked by: Michael
Yes, the Doran Chemical Storage Tank (2 Gallon) and the Doran Chemical Storage Tank (5 Gallon) tank-only versions include a tank cover in the box. They don't include the floating lid that sits inside over the chemicals. The floating lid needs to be purchased separately.

question

How tall are these tanks? I need to determine shelf spacing.
Asked by: Todd R.
12 inches tall, 8.5 wide, but remember to leave room for your fingers and hands. You don't want it too tight when you are placing them on the shelf full of chemistry.

question

Does the top lid screw on or snap on? I'm concerned about air leaks and darkroom odors. Is the top a full seal?
Asked by: Scott
The top is a thin press on lid. The air needs a little movement so the spigot works. The odors have never really bothered me, so I guess it's good on that accord.
