The 4MP Red 4 Enhanced Infrared Digital Scouting Camera from Wildgame Innovations is a digital trail / wildlife camera with a 4MP sensor for capturing clear photos and video. The camera features the same infrared (IR) technology found in all the Red and Micro Red cameras, and also makes use of Redux Anti-Blur technology for clear images, even when your subject is in motion. Flextime+ Time Lapse technology enables the camera to take a picture at set intervals from 15 sec to 5 min.
The Red 4 captures still photos and up to 30 sec of video at 640x480 (high) or 320x240 (low) resolution, during the day or night. The camera has an LCD text menu / programming screen. It's also equipped with an infrared flash composed of 18 high-intensity LEDs. Since wildlife can't see the flash, they won't be spooked into running away. The effective flash range is up to 55' (16.8 m).
The Moon Phase Stamp feature links the current date to the phase of the moon on that date and imprints an icon on your photo. This is a useful reference, as it can help you determine whether particular animals are inactive at night when a full or nearly full moon is present, causing them to be more visible to predators. Also, if some of your nighttime photos seem to have a darker or lighter background, you can determine whether or not that was related to the brightness of the moon at the time of capture.
The camera accepts SDHC memory cards up to 32GB (not included). It is powered by 4 C batteries (not included), and also features an external battery port for attaching the EBX External Battery Pack (not included), which offers additional battery power. The camera features a plastic, water-resistant housing with rubber gaskets for protection against the elements.
