Key Features
  • Load Capacity: 8.8 lb
  • Height: 3.2"
  • Weight: 10.6 oz
  • Arca-Type Compatible Quick Release Set
The BE-108 Ball Head from Oben is a lightweight aluminum ball head with a load capacity of 8.8 lb, a large locking knob to control the movement of the ball, and a separate knob for the 360° panning movement. The individual knobs enable higher-precision adjustments to the head than are possible with single-lever heads. Taking panoramic photos is simple thanks to the panoramic scale at the base of the head. A notch in the ball head allows orientation to quickly change between portrait and landscape.

Is this Oben BE 108 the same as Oben 106T ? newer ...

Is this Oben BE 108 the same as Oben 106T ? newer model to replace the 106 T, but has exact the same specs ?
Asked by: LAM
The Oben BA-106T was only rated for 6.6 pounds while the BE_108 is rated for 8.8 pounds, Also the BE-108 uses the Arca Swiss standard style plates and the BA106T used a proprietary plate.

question

Is the quick release system detachable? I have manfrotto plates and I'd like to know if i can attach my own system to the ball. Thanks!
Asked by: Feli H.
Yes, the plate is removable on mine. There is an recessed Allen head screw in the mount plate. But if you want to use another companies proprietary plate I'd suggest you just buy a whole head from them. The mount plate for that would have to bolt on the same way. Personally I like the universal aspect of the Acra-Swiss system. I've converted all my tripods and mono-pods to that. 1 plate to rule them all!

question

Will this head work on a Joby 3k gorilla pod?
Asked by: Carlos
I have not looked at the Gorilla Pod tripod, but the base on this ballhead is 1 1/2 inches in diameter. It is threaded for 3/8 x 16. I do not remember if a 3/8 to 1/4 inch adapter came in the box so if that is what the gorilla pod needs you will have to get that thread adapter.

question

I've recently bought a BE-117T head which is very good, anyhow it comes with a QR-20 quick release plate. In the first photo on this, it shows a QR-10 plate, in the last it shows a QR-20... What is the difference between the plates? Are the plates interchangeable?
Asked by: Cameron S.
I have always/only used the QR=10, works well!

question

What is the max tilt angle of the neck on the ball before it moves into the notch to do portrait shots?
Asked by: Steven
I would guess maybe 45, probably less. I use this for interiors and landscapes with an L bracket, so I never tilt very far either way.

question

How does the Arca Swiss secure to the camera? Is it a key, or do you need to use a coin or screw driver attach the ball head?
Asked by: Harvey
Remove the top plate which attaches to camera. Simply attach to camera base with screw which has a flip out turn handle. No need for coins, screw driver etc. very simple.
