The BE-117 Ball Head from Oben is a lightweight aluminum ball head with a load capacity of 17.6 lb, a large locking knob to control the movement of the ball, and a separate knob for the 360° panning movement. The individual knobs enable higher-precision adjustments to the head than are possible with single-lever heads. Taking panoramic photos is simple thanks to the panoramic scale at the base of the head. A notch in the ball head allows orientation to quickly change between portrait and landscape.

question

Is this ball head compatible with Benro - Classic A3580F Aluminum Tripod, and Nikon D810?
Asked by: Dee V.
Hi Dee, Although I don't have a Benro tripod, I believe that most tripods have a standard size screw that the heads screw into, so I'm guessing it would probably work. I would defer to the experts at B&H to answer that question with authority. Regarding the D810, I have several Nikon cameras and they all work because there is a plate that you screw into the bottom of the camera and it fits into the top of the ball head. So, I feel quite confident your D810 would work. Hope this helps.

Can you turn the top clamp 90 degrees for either a camera base or for a tripod collar foot?
Asked by: Diane
I mainly use this ball head on my platpod plate, it is very easy to use and light weight. I have my L bracket on my camera, so I don't need to make 90 degrees turn.

question

I currently have an Oben AC-1420 tripod which came with an Oben BA-1 ball head and two RP-20 quick release plates. I mount a Canon 5D Mark II on this rig, but the plate allows the camera to twist. I am considering an anti-twist plate made by Kirk: B&H# KIPZ128, but Oben tells me that the BA-1 will not work with any plate requiring an Acra-Swiss technology, which this one does.MY questions to you are (1) If I buy the BE-117 ball head plus the Kirk Anti-twist plate above, will everything work together on my existing Oben tripod with no further adaptations? With my camera? Will the quick release function be compromised in any way by the Kirk anti-twist plate? Is there a cheaper way to do this? I set out for buy a simple anti-twist plate and suddenly seem to be knee-deep in more new equipment.Thanks.

The Oben BE-117 ballhead is designed to accept the Arca-Swiss style plates and accessories. It is compatible with the Kirk plate, B&H # KIPZ128 and your camera. It will not compromise the fit to the head or of that of the camera. This set up is of the least expensive methods to get the tripod outfitted with an Arca-Swiss type head and anti-twist plate.
