The Core SWX Powerbase-70 Battery Pack & Charger for Blackmagic Camera Kit from B&H -- the battery can be attached right underneath the camera or to a V-mount plate and will provide up to 4-6 hours of power. The charger delivers a full charge in 4-5 hours using a P-Tap connector.

The battery pack is a combination of a 70Wh 14.8V lithium-ion V-mount battery and a regulator block with a 12 inch DC cable. The battery attaches underneath the camera via an included mini quick release plate that has a 1/4"-20 screw extending from it. The plate snaps into the battery and enables mounting most any support gear with a 1/4"-20 thread. If you'll be attaching underneath the camera, you'll need to plug the 12 inch DC cable into the camera. If you'll be attaching to a V-mount plate, you won't need to use the cable as the battery is a standard V-mount battery and accordingly will make electrical contact with the plate. The battery has 1/4"-20 threads on the sides for attaching accessories.

Via an optional XP power regulation cable, the battery can also power two additional 12V and lower-voltage devices at the same time as powering the camera.

Powerbase-70 Battery Pack & Charger for Blackmagic Camera Kit is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Small-size EFP battery Used conservatively, one of these will power my BMCC from 4-5 hours. I charge my batteries overnight before a shoot so I don't worry about charge time for these smaller units. Not heavy, mounts easily and can the extra D-tap can be used to power small, on-camera items such as a field monitor or over-the-lens light. I recommend owning 2 or 4 of these if you're using you're camera all day and never powering down. The charger adapter is a bit hard to plug in the first dozen times, but it works. The LED gauge seems accurate. I've had one of mine lose it's charge for a few days but it charged back up to full capacity. Great, budget-friendly power solution.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good and Bad as well I have had a good experience with this battery. ------------ Battery Power ----------- It has a button on the side that when pressed shows you (via 5 lights) how much battery power remains. I took it out on three afternoon shoots, likely 3 hours each and it did not run out on me so I think the 4 hours that the other reviewer said may depend on usage but I feel it is 6 hours easy. ----------- Buy with Charger ------------- This choice is the strongest because most of the time, the powerbase is sold SEPARATELY from the charger. It's stupid but this combo on B&H is one of the few I found with a charger, otherwise, few people mention it and therefore you may assume that it would come with it normally. ------------ Size and Usage ------------- The battery is nice because it does have the ability to be attached directly to the camera or via a quick release plate (which I would do). Makes it easy to attach and detach depending on if you have a cage or just the camera body to work with. It is a little large and can make shooting clumsy if you intend to do handheld stuff but the BMCC is not really ideal for that in most cases so I would say that the ergonomics remain similarly awkward with and without this battery so it doesn't really bother me. ------------- Battery Expectations for Filming ------------ On an aside, as I read between the lines of the last reviewer, this is a must if you have the black magic cinema camera. If you are shooting digital film solely (versus comparing it to a 5D or some other DSLR), the black magic has an built-in, non-removable, rechargeable battery that lasts about 1.5 hours. This is only intended to be for backup or quick moments where you need to be away from the base location perhaps and the cords do not allow. The idea that the onboard battery serves any more than that is a bit averse to normal filming expectations in my opinion. Can't have everything...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect solution to power Blackmagic cameras I waited a long time to buy this power solutionand I've tried a ton of others. One of the best hidden features of this battery is that is has a V mount on the back. That means it can be used with Ursa Mini's and other cameras that accept this mount. I was very surprised when I realized this. I bought 2 of these for my BMPC and BMCC, but intend to upgrade to the Ursa Mini in the next year or so. I'll be able to continue using this on the new cameras! Plus, the quick release makes changing these blocks super easy. A bust buy.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 2 replacements later Bought it. The day it was shipped I noticed it was defective. I couldn't charge it at all. I returned it. Got a new one and used it for 8 shooting at most. Charged it again; can't charge anymore. When it's working, it's wonderful. I can use my BMCC a complete day without any issues. Now I can't use it for more than one hour (including the battery life of the camera itself). It drain within an hour. Still need a new replacement - the warranty last one year with the manufacturer. Let's hope it's the last replacement!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from We Do NOT Recommend This Battery My wife and I own a small mom & pop camera and gear rental business for guerilla filmmakers. We bought three of these batteries for our Blackmagic cameras. Within the first month one failed, and then the next month another one failed. What happens is that the circuit board inside the battery that drives the LED's fails. There is no way to know the battery charge state. Yes, it still functions as a battery, charges correctly and powers the camera. But it is a matter of principle for us. We paid a lot of money for our batteries only to have a feature of the batteries fail. A technician from Switronix told us that they have to open the battery and replace the circuit board and that it is a very expensive repair. The battery itself is covered under warranty, but there is NO warranty on the LED's and the circuit board. To us this is an unacceptable level of customer support.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought for Extra Power for Blackmagic I bought this for my Blackmagic Production Camera to help extend battery life when out on a shoot without any place to charge the camera. So far it works well and has several places where the camera, tripod, and other items can be screwed in to it, making it versatile and a great addition to the camera!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good and Bad Fits perfectly on top of my BMC. But takes an entire day to charge! And it can only power my camera for four hours

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value Great product. I wish the battery lasted longer, but it works fine for several hours.
