Vello Manual Extension Tube Set for Nikon F-Mount
Key Features
  • Shortens Minimum Focus Distance of Lens
  • Provides Macro Capability
  • Includes 7mm, 14mm, and 28mm Tubes
  • Can be Used Individually or Combined
The Vello Manual Extensions Tube Set for Nikon F-Mount allows your lens to focus closer than its normal minimum focusing distance. By placing distance between your camera body and lens, the focusing distance is shortened and magnification is increased. Extension tubes enable macro performance for lenses not otherwise able to focus that close, and are also suited for close-up portraiture. The Manual Extension Tube Set for Nikon F-mount contains three extension tubes of 7mm, 14mm, and 28mm lengths. They pair up with the required camera and lens adapter mounts, which add an additional 15mm to the actual extension tube lengths. The extension tubes can be used individually or together in seven distinct combinations to create the desired magnification. For closer focusing use the larger extension tube or stack the tubes together. Extension tubes have no optical elements so do not degrade the quality of your lenses.

Vello EXT-NFM Overview

These tubes are manual tubes and do not communicate electronic functions, such as autofocus or auto exposure control, between your camera body and mounted lens; both manual focusing and manual exposure control must be used. When used with lenses without a manual aperture ring, exposure can only be controlled by changing the camera's shutter speed while maintaining the native preset aperture of the lens (this will be the smallest f/stop on Nikon G lenses). Due to the screw-in design of the manual extension tubes, the lens may not sit directly upright but will, however, function normally. Do not to over-tighten screw-in tubes to ensure easy removal of each tube. Additionally, when using the extension tubes, you will lose the ability to focus to infinity.

Shortens minimum focusing distance of lens for macro photography.
Extension tubes of 7mm, 14mm, and 28mm lengths can be used individually or in any combination of the three for greater magnification. The required camera and lens adapter mounts add an additional 15mm to the actual extension tube lengths.
Lightweight design with metal mounts for durability and longevity.
Fits Nikon DSLR cameras and all F-mount lenses.

question

Do I need an adapter ring for use with my D100(52mm)?
Asked by: Anonymous
I was referring to using the extension tube on the front of the lens with a slide copy attachment. This is NOT a wrong answer. This is the correct answer for adding extension between the slide and the front of the lens and it is a documented method. No offense, I just wanted to know what the threads were - for example 52mm, 55mm, 58mm, 62mm etc. Thank you, Mike

Like someone else asked already , What s the size of the inside threads of the extension tubes? I also would like to attach these to a filter thread between the outer end of the lens where standard filters screw on and a slide copy adapter. I understand that this may not be the intended use of those threaded tubes but we are interested in improvising

Extension tubes are meant to go between the camera body and the lens. They are not intended to be used between the lens and slide adapter.

question

It looks like the 7mm tube is used in conjunction with two other pieces. Does using the 7mm ring mean the lens will be displaced 7mm from its normal position? Or is there some overhead from the other components?
Asked by: Steven S.
Well, I purchased a set, so I can answer my own question. The camera mount tube and the lens mount tube are always used, and they move the lens out by 16mm. Any combination of the other three rings can be inserted in between them to increase the displacement. The customer should be able to learn this 16mm number from the description online. It's not even in the manual. I had to pull out calipers and measure it myself. no rings: lens is displaced 16 mm7mm: 23 mm displacement14mm: 30 mm displacement28mm: 44 mm displacement

question

Hi, I'm unclear about the threads thing. Are the threads used or not? Does the thread size matter or not? Please give me a simple direct answer, if possible please. Thanks.
Asked by: Pol
I use one of these. Thread size does not matter. The threads allow you to add the tubes together to increase the length of the extension tube. It is best to use a prime lens. For good results you will need to use a tripod and will need a good light source. The depth of field will be very narrow, so you may want to use aperture mode and select a small aperture (i.e. high number).
