Pentax 85232 overview

  • 1Description

The Padded DSLR Camera Strap from Pentax is a comfortable and fully adjustable neck or shoulder strap for heavier DSLR cameras or camcorders. It has three adjustment points for various lengths, as well as a sliding pad with the red Pentax logo sewn on that you can move to the most comfortable position along the length of the strap. Its two quick release buckles let you quickly remove the camera from the strap without having to lift the strap up and over your head.

Pentax 85232 reviews

Padded DSLR Camera Strap is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Performs as advertised I use this strap for my new Pentax K3 DSLR. It's far superior to the one provided with the camera and one of the only straps of high quality available by a third party as an accessory. I obtained the same strap for my K5 and have another for the new camera. It's light weight, easy to install, versatile in size and length, and has an attractive version of the Pentax logo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Replacement for OE Strap I realized immediately that the original equipment strap on my Pentax K-30 was way too short. It would go over my head to hang in front OR over one shoulder to hang at my side about waist high. But it could not do both - just did not have the length required to make it maneuverable - to wear it over my shoulder and chest and still be able to swing the camera into position without taking it off. This one is probably 48 fully extended. I don't have it fully extended and it rides comfortably and conveniently. Love the clips that allow you to quickly remove the camera from the strap.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I would buy again, given its quality and versatile features The features and materials of this strap are Very similar to the Tamrac N45 (previously sold by B&H; no longer available) and, more recently, the Tamrac N17 (unfortunately, not sold by B&H; but they should consider offering it!). One wonders if they're not all from the same manufacturer? The N17 had a fixed, padded suede leather section in the middle and the N45 has a fixed double-layer nylon (seatbelt-like) section in the middle with the two rows of double-stitched grey 'rubber bands' to prevent slippage. The PENTAX, on the other hand, has a SLIDING section in the middle where the entire underside is nonslip grey rubber material. The Pentax strap comes with an 3/8 dia. split-ring on each of its small ends for attachment to the camera lugs. But my Pentax dSLR already had those more robust 'trapezoidal' shaped D-rings with the naugahide scratch protectors around them, so I removed the split-rings provided with the strap and attached its small ends directly to the trapezoidal D-rings. The Delrin? QuickRelease snaps on the Pentax strap appear to be exactly the same as those used on the Ruggard brand equipment sold by B&H which seem to require less effort to release than those on the Tamrac straps mentioned above (particularly in cold weather) but which should be just as secure. I gave this PENTAX strap 4 out of 5 stars because it would be even better if both the larger and smaller woven nylon portions of the strap were made from a more stiff (thicker) material... But,then, for the relatively Low Price of this Pentax strap -- and the features it has -- one cannot expect the construction to be with the heavier duty materials ... (maybe if it cost $50 or so, but it doesn't). OVERALL this Pentax strap is quite satisfactory, and Canon and Nikon should offer a similar product, in my view.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Initially 4-stars but now 3-stars After using this strap, I'm downgrading it from my initial 4-star rating to just 3-stars. Reason: both the large and the small pieces of nylon webbing are of a thinner material than other straps, such as the Tamrac mentioned in my original review. Problem this causes: the smaller end pieces that attach to the camera can slowly slip through the little rectangular plastic 'buckles' and can become detached from the camera ... I 'fixed' this by inserting the smallest black nylon cable tie I could find through both pieces of the small webbing just above the buckle and keeper to prevent it from slipping (see where the pen tip is pointing in my PHOTO of this). Subsequently, I bought a Miggo 'Speed Strap' which appears to have the same thickness for the webbing straps as my Tamrac strap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than the original This strap is better than the lost original that came with the camera, for two main reasons: 1) it has a better variable length and 2) it has removable snap-in grasps on both ends.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but not great I love that the strap is detachable... that way, I can leave it attached to the camera while it's on the tripod without giving my cats something to reach up and play with. The pad could be more padded, and it would be nice if there were some way to hold the pad in position once the strap has been adjusted to the proper length.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The name says it all! When you want something a little nicer for your gear, its nice to find something with your brand name on it that also is extra comfy.
