Watson NP-BX1 Reviews

Batteries fully meet their specifications

Upon testing with an Opus BT-C3400 battery charger / tester, one of the two Watson NP-BX1 batteries I received tested at 1,143mAh, the other, 1,164 mAh. The former weighed 20.88g, the other, 20.95g. A now 7 year old Sony NP-BX1 tested at 1,148 mAh and weighed 24.4g. (I think the Sony lost some capacity over the years.) All this testing was done recently, May 2026. So, the Watson batteries fully met their specification and they will be very useful. Thanks for carrying good stuff, B&H! Seven years ago I also bought 4 no-name NP-BX1 batteries marked 1,240 mAh. Upon recent testing two of them were about 600mAh, and the other two about 650mAh. Clearly they never had anything close to their advertised capacity. Finally, the attached image shows the setup I used to connect NP-BX1 cells to the BT-C3400. I am using the shell of what was a terrible charger to hold up to three NP-BX1 cells, and provide electrically independent AA size adapters for each cell.

Yes I know that one of the many, many cool features of the Sony RX 100 VII is that it can charge it's battery onboard the camera. And I bought the M7 because of the size, weight, and simplicity of fewer accessories and parts to schlep. But for my upcoming travel adventures, for the price of a Sony battery alone, I now have a spare battery and a dedicated charger (With an additional USB A charging output) in a tiny package. I have tried the minimalist route before, and the anxiety of running out of juice is too great for these once-in-a-lifetime trips. I'll leave a pair of socks out if I have to, but I love having a dependable charger and spare batteries on trips abroad.

Will it work in my RX100 V1?
Asked by: Charles
I purchased the Watson NP-BX1 battery for my Sony RX100 VI and it works just as well as the Sony batteries. The camera is hard on batteries and I usually carry 3, particularly if I plan to use my camera all day. The only issue I've had with the Watson battery is that I find it easy to place in my charger incorrectly. Fortunately, the charger then blinks rather than going into charging mode.

does charger have a light on it to let u know when charging is finished?
Asked by: Ken
Yes, a light is red while charging, changing to green when charged. The charger works well with either Watson or Sony batteries. However, the Watson B-4234 batteries are slightly different in size from the Sony NP-BX1 they are supposed to replace. Sometimes I can wiggle them until they latch in my Sony RX100-VI, but today, I can't get them to stay in after several tries. I recommend paying the more exorbitant price for the Sony batteries.
