In his Advanced Photography Techniques DVD, Michael Andrew, a.k.a. Michael The Maven, has taken the very best content from his workshops of the same name and compiled it into a single comprehensive training program. This is a collection of tips and tricks Michael has learned over the course of 10 years, including all the little things that add up to a great image. Unlike his many other DVDs, this is not a crash course for beginners. Geared towards the intermediate or advanced photographer, it assumes a working knowledge of a camera and is designed to enable the improvement of skills. At the end of the video, Michael takes you on a modeling shoot and actually explains his thought process and shooting strategy as he works.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not for Beginners- great for advanced! Disclaimer: this video is not for beginners. BUT! It is great for those who are familiar with their camera on an intermediate to advanced level. It is also great for those who want to add more creativity to their photos! It is very exciting to see all the amazing effects one can get with JUST the camera (no photoshop). I have always wanted to know how to take photos of fireworks and learn how to paint with light and get someone in the background of it! Michael, your instruction was so clear and understandable! I love the pop-a-flash portion of the video and how you can also use that same technique in macro photography! Thank you for your tips and tricks to help my photos become more creative!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Love It! This DVD is packed with great information and cool ideas. I am an intermediate photographer and after one viewing I've already taken some great images. It has taken my skills to a new level. All of these techniques, like how to take a sharper image and how to hold your camerea, are things I never would have discovered on my own. Well worth the money!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Such cool tricks! This DVD is probably the best purchase I have made as far as photographer (as far as instructional DVDs go). There are really cool photos out there on the internet that I really wanted to learn how replicate (for example, painting with light), and in this DVD, the techniques are explained perfectly. It's clear, it's concise. I probably will buy this DVD again for my friend who is starting in photography.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from For Canon Users; Lack of Organization I went through the 50 different topics included in this video and was unhappy with how random the topics were. So many different techniques and advice, but in such random order...I also was frustrated that all of the settings he alludes to are for a Canon camera - I did NOT know this and probably would not have purchased it if I had known since I own a Nikon.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Total Dissapointment This was the worst so called Advanced Photography Techniques DVD that I ever saw, I would not recommend this to anyone especially advanced photographers, I am so disappointed I am ashamed to say almost $$or was it. Don't buy this and B&H should at least screen videos for sale on their site.
