Chrosziel MB 450 Reviews
My favorate Matte Box
I really like this Matter Box. Solid, well built, and easy to fix (which I havent needed to). Ill be changing my other matte boxes to Chroaziel soon.
Will cause severe lens envy
I never fail to be amazed by German engineering and precision. This is a truly spectacular piece of equipment which fits perfectly into the tight and small space available. I splashed out and bought the side flaps as well (I have had to operate in a situation where side lights on stage found their way into my lens). The finish in black matt where non-reflective surfaces are required is beautiful. My main reason for even considering a mattebox was for the sunshade on the front but I realised it would open up the whole fascinating world of filters - something I haven't looked at nor used for years (I'm a documentary videographer and photographer mainly). The two filter boxes are 1. 4x4 rotating and 2. 4x4 or 4x5.65 non-rotating. Both filter boxes are fed in from the underside of the mattebox and both can be screw tightened into position so the box cannot slide out and fall to the ground. I bought the option without the follow-focus system as I cannot really see myself going that far down the road of manual operation. Oh, and if size matters, this mattebox beefs up the appearance of the camera hugely so all those people out there who suffer from lens and camera envy will just wilt while you smugly pass it off as just another tool in the trade. I've just sat and stared at this beast which growls now in the centre of my Studio floor. Sigh. Worth every cent. Now I want one for each of my cameras.
