Impact RP-3570 overview

  • 1Description

The Impact Reflector Panel is a light shaping tool consisting of 4 aluminum rods and a geared bracket that hold its 35 x 70" (90 x 179 cm) fabric taut without a frame. Two reversible reflective fabrics are included; black/white and gold/silver. The silver material is the most specular of the surfaces - ideal for long throw applications and bright enough to mimic an additional light source. Gold adds a warm hue to the subject and is especially valuable in cool-toned open shade or to create sunset effects. White is the softest most neutral surface is most often used to gently fill in shadows and adjust lighting ratios.

The tilting bracket accepts stands with a 5/8" top stud and rotates 360 degrees so that you can turn the panel horizontally, vertically or any angle in between. A carry bag is included to store and transport the panel.

    Impact RP-3570 reviews

    Reflector Panel 35 x 70" (90 x 179 cm) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 53.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Look Ma - No hands! I have numerous reflectors, only problem is you've got to have an extra hand or a reflector holder. I've had issues with various reflector holders either not keeping a grip on the reflector or the reflector twisting. Thr Impact Reflector Panel is easy to put together, lightweight, and comes with two reversible, reflective panels. I would have given it five stars, but am going to have to iron out the folded creases in the panels (Impact customer service advised me to do so on a very low iron setting).

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice idea, did some easy improvements. It does what it supposed to do. You get a large reflector that be easily aimed and stands on it's own, for use in o wind. You get solid white, black, gold and silver surfaces. Gold is very gold. They panels do not pull as tautly as I'd hoped, especially with the seams which create a loose surface. I have made three diffusers with different Lee 48 diffusion rolls. I cut them 42 x 66 Made the pockets with gaffer tape. This is pretty useful. The thing I would really like is if they made the rods in 2 stages, because they are really long and don't pack up into a small kit. Also they are steel, not aluminum. I will end up making another set of these with carbon fiber rods.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great off a C stand I purchased this reflector to use attached to a C Stand. I attached the geared bracket holding the reflector to a Right Angle Baby Stud. The Baby Stud was attached to the C stand using a 4 way clamp. The reflector hangs securely due to the stability of the C stand. I have not tried it off of a tripod or even a lighter light stand. The size of the reflector makes it fine for reflecting light toward a standing subject. It is durable and appears like it will not flake like some reflector material. I would have liked to have a diffuser material added, as an option. If one has any experience assembling softboxes, the connection of the corners of the fabric to the center post by bowing the metal spokes is quite direct and simple. 4 stars only because of the quality of the geared bracket. If anything in this unit breaks, it will probably be that piece. The joint seems to be subject to significant stress in normal use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product For the money, I find this to be a very useful and quality product. I used it the day after I received it to function as a reflector for my corporate portrait shoot and it worked perfectly. The addition of two-sided reflectors in white, gold, silver and black makes this a great deal.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A total piece of junk Short version: this is a total piece of junk. Do not buy this product. Can I suggest beating yourself about the head and shoulders rather than buying this? The effect will be the same. That said, I wanted to love this panel reflector. It is simple. It does what it should. OR so I thought for the first two days. The first flaw was easy to discover - if you move the light stand holding the reflector - if you allow the panel to wiggle even a bit - the spring loaded rods pop out of their pockets in a sort of fun-house way. But not in the good fun-house way. In the that was embarrassing way. The little pockets that hold the rods are far too shallow. As a bonus feature, the bit of metal that the rods go into on the other end - the hub if you will - are also too shallow - and they too come out. With tape, and a lack of dignity, I could get past this. Then the whole mount broke. The black plastic part which articulates came apart. It was mis-handled. It wasn't over tightened. It exploded into pieces when I touched it. This is a total piece of junk. And as I have already tossed the packaging, I can't return it. PLEASE buy something else. Anything else. This retailer has lots of other options.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly Recommended Slight learning curve in assembling reflector, but after that panel was very easy to use and move around. So far only used for indoor studio portraits, but certainly could be used outdoors. Excellent value for price. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice I'm using this as a substitute V-flat. It's not exactly the same but it does a good work. I like it's portability and ease of use. Once it's assembled you should not play around too much with it since it's a bit delicate, but you'll be able to move it around and all. If you don't have space to store V-flats and don't need the full size I recommend this as an option. Simple and easy to use. And the plus is that on top of black and white you get golden and silver panels. Worth having.
