Audio-Technica BPHS1 Overview

Created for use with intercom systems, the Audio-Technica BPHS1-XF4 is a rugged communications headset that offers natural, highly intelligible and focused vocal reproduction, closed-back circumaural (around-the-ear) ear cups to seal out background noise, and a high-output dynamic microphone mounted on a flexible gooseneck boom.

The headset's microphone has a cardioid polar pattern tailored for pickup of speech with maximum voice intelligibility over a wide range of frequencies. It is more sensitive to sound originating directly in front of the element, making it useful in reducing pickup of unwanted sounds. The flexible gooseneck boom swivels for easy positioning on either the right or left side.

Audio-Technica BPHS1 Reviews

Nice audio and microphone

Purchased the headset for use with amateur radio. To make it easier to hear and speak without needing to locate the boom mic. Ear cups are soft and seal well, I do wish they were slightly large to fit over my larger ears. The cable is well built but adds weight if unsupported.

The Standard for Broadcast Headsets

Audio Technica BPSH1 they are the standard for Broadcast Announcer Headset. Sure there are others, but these work well and are widely accepted as very high in performance. I have the Shure Headset and they are good also, but these are easy to get and plug into any mixer without issue. They are fairly comfortable to use the wind pop changes without much work and there are spares that come with your purchase. I have no issue with them and use them with all our live streams.

I have a BPHS1 that came with an 4 pin XLR female cable. I'm trying to get it to run into a Zoom H6 handy recorder. Is there an adapter that can do 4 pin XLR male to 3 pin XLR male for use with the Zoom? Will I be able to record with the microphone and hear through the headphones?
Asked by: Carl
The 4-pin version of the broadcast headset is for a communications system. The best and most cost effective solution is to change out the cable with the appropriate model, which is the Audio-Technica BPCB1 Replacement Cable for BPHS1, BH #AUBPCB1. The headphone connection would then need to be adapted for the Zoom H6, with a Hosa Technology GMP112 Male Stereo 3.5mm Mini to Female Stereo 1/4" Phone Adapter, BH #HOASMMSPF.

How do I set up Audio-Technica BPHS1 with Rodecaster Pro and a Mac for Zoom calls?
Asked by: ELENA
What Lisa said about connecting the headset to the RodeCaster Pro is correct. When you've done that and connected it to the computer via USB you may also need to go into the Zoom preferences and make sure it's using the Rodecaster for sound input and output. In the Audio section of the prefs there's a Speaker section and a Microphone section. Make sure both of those are set to the Rodecaster and click the two Test buttons to make sure everything's working.

Help! I want to connect my BPHS to my MacBook pro for Zoom meetings. What do I need to get the microphone in and the earphones out? Do I need a pre-amplifier?
Asked by: Robert
The broadcast headset should be used with an audio interface, such as the Focusrite Scarlett Solo 2x2 USB Audio Interface (3rd Generation), B&H # FOSCARSOLO3G. The audio interface would have a mic-pre-amp to accept the male XLR mic output from the headset, and a headphone output for the 1/4-inch stereo connector.

question

I have a technical question, I'm hoping you can help. - I own a Zoom H5. - I have just purchased the BPHS1 - I want to record Skype interviews (for my podcast) but am a little unsure on how to configure Zoom to achieve this. From my Mac, I have a cable that goes from the audio out, into the TRS input #2 on the H5 - to record my guest's voice. My headset/mic will be plugged into the XLR input #1 on the H5 - to record my voice. What do I need to do, to be able to HEAR my guest's voice? Is there anything in particular I need to configure on the H5?
Asked by: Matthew T.
The scenario you are describing requires the routing of audio in a way that is a bit more complex, and would best be served by using a mixer and audio interface. Connect the BPHS1 into a mixer like the Alto ZMX862 Zephyr. Take AUX SEND 1 out and plug it into input 1 of an audio interface like the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB Audio Interface (2nd Generation). With regards to the skype audio in your computer, Take the master out of the audio interface and plug it into a stereo channel of the alto mixer. Now that all of the audio is in the mixer, take the master output and plug it into your Zoom H5 to record .
