The Canon EF mount Rokinon 14mm T3.1 Cine ED AS IF UMC Lens was developed primarily for film and video applications. The cine version of Rokinon's 14mm lens features industry-standard gearing for the focus and aperture ring, and the aperture ring has been de-clicked for smooth iris pulls. The aperture and focus scales have also been relocated to the side of the lens, where it is easier for focus pullers to read them.

This lens is compatible with full-frame sensors and can also be used on APS-C-sized sensors, where the 35mm-equivalent focal length will be 22.4mm. The optical construction incorporates three high refractive index elements, two extra-low dispersion elements, one hybrid aspherical elements, and one aspherical element to reduce chromatic aberration and distortion to produce sharper imagery. Additionally, a UMC coating has been applied to lens elements to minimize lens flare and ghosting for more contrast-rich images.

Fast T3.1 maximum aperture benefits working in low-light conditions.
Three high refractive index elements, two extra-low dispersion elements, one hybrid aspherical element, and one aspherical element reduce chromatic aberrations in order to produce greater sharpness and clarity.
UMC coating improves light transmission and suppresses lens flare and ghosting for more contrast-rich, color-neutral images.
Geared aperture and focus rings are compatible with standard follow focuses for greater control over adjustment.
De-clicked aperture ring facilitates smooth, quiet exposure adjustments during recording.

14mm T3.1 Cine ED AS IF UMC Lens for Canon EF Mount is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 51.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from For Micro 4/3, it's a great lens! Coming from the Micro 4/3 arena, this lens is a great one to have in your kit. It's not quite as fast as the other Rokinon Cine lenses, but no doubt you will use this lens often. Some people complain about it being too wide or 'fisheye', but if you're using something like a Micro 4/3 sensor, it's a nonexistent problem. The main competitor for this lens is the SLR Magic 12mm T1.6. That lens is slightly wider, faster, and won't require an adapter. It will cost more in the long run, but it's the way to go if you have a need for speed. The wide distortion of the SLR Magic is more noticable than the Rokinon. Also the Rokinon is easier to handle.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Need 14mm on a budget... try a Rokinon Canon 14mm this ain't, but at about 1/5 of the price of the Canon 14mm, this little Rokinon is truly a gem. To my knowledge it isn't rectilinear like the Canon, but it still performs quite well. The Cine model has the aperture ring declicked, which is very useful for video work as well as getting in-between typical f or t stops. Wide open at T3.1 it isn't the sharpest, but once you stop down it's pretty darn sharp. It's more of a 3.5 Stars than a 3 Star, image quality wise I wouln't go higher than 3.5 Stars. Good bang for your buck, just don't expect Canon 14mm performance from a lens that's 1/5 of the price.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Defective Lens Cap-Undesirable Service Please Note That This Review only Reflects the Rather Poor Customer Care I have Received from Elite Brands. -------- Took delivery of this lens last week and straight from the box one of the two latches that secure the lens cap to the barrel was defective resulting in a loose fit. A week later the lens cap freely falls from the lens. The front element on the 14mm is rather large and prominent and must be covered at all times when not in use. Was forced to gaffer tape the lens cap to the barrel. Not a good look when mounted to an Arri Alexa. I was directed by B&H to contact Elite Brands who distribute Rokinon Lens in the US. After explaining my situation to a customer care rep at Elite Brands, I was rather curtly informed that we can't give away lens caps to everybody who breaks them. For the record,: The cap was never broken by myself nor anybody else. This lens cap is DEFECTIVE. To add insult to injury was then offered a ridiculous sum to replace the lens cap with exorbitant shipping costs. No but thanks. And to think I was going to purchase an entire set of Rokinon's cine lenses. Not if this is the sort of customer care I can expect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Muy buen objetivo !!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent quality for the price! I was very impressed with the build quality of this lens the second I held it. The focus and aperture rings are super smooth and the lens as a whole feels solid and dependable. The glass is huge and just plainly looks badass on my t2i. I wish it would stop down lower than t3.1 but you can only ask for so much. Video shot with this lens is always very sharp and professional looking. I use this lens to do short marketing videos and capturing a room pan takes only a short turn with a tripod because the lens is so wide, however, lines in the image never become so distorted that it appears like a skate video or anything. Overall excellent lens in extremely satisfied with the purchase!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wide and Sharp! I am a film student and I got this lens to shoot both personal projects and material for my reel. It looks fantastic on my Canon 600D with the crop frame. Very sharp even wide open, and you really do need to shoot it wide open if you're indoors and don't have an expensive light set up. The slight mustache distortion is noticeable even on the crop frame sensor but not overbearing. I actually really like the look of it most of the time. I have also used an adaptor to put this lens on the Sony FS-100 and it's still fantastic. I didn't get any vignetting and the sharpness was still good wide open. The two things keeping this lens from getting five stars is the design of the front and the focus ring. The large glass element at the front of the lens looks gorgeous but makes it impossible to use any conventional filters, most notably ND. In bright daylight without the ability to use ND you lose control of where you want to set you aperture. Basically you have to close it down much farther than you might want to. Also the Focus draw is really too long. With a 14mm the depth of field is fairly long most of the time anyways and the focus draw on this lens is close to 300 degrees! When the focus is set near infinity you can turn the focus ring nearly 90 degrees and not perceive any noticeable difference in the sharpness of your subject. My peers have been very impressed with my Rokinon lenses over the last couple months and one of them will be borrowing them to use on the Red Epic this weekend for his senior project. The price of this lens is very good and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone interested in working with some very sharp prime glass at a very reasonable price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Incredibly great for it's price - wish you could use filter The only thing that keeps this from being 5 stars in my book is the fact that you can't ND it without a large matte box. That's fine for the video work I do as it fits my matte box (just barely!) but I also do a lot of long-exposure, wide-angle photography and there just isn't an easy, high quality solution there. There is a filter holder solution available if you're willing to order from overseas, but there is a high end ND (i.e., glass) that fits that holder AFAIK...

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Sceptical at first and I was right this time. I made some tests and it was super sharp on the right side but not so much on the left side lower corner of frame but enough to bother me and I ended up selling it. I tried a series of apertures and it never got that great on the left side. On the up side, it's a super fun lens if you're looking at a wide angle but I realize I don't want it so wide unless it's super sharp and looks great. My experience on a shoot was shooting video for some b-roll at a mock meeting in a small room. I would want something better for my clients. But for the money, it's a fun optic.
