The Sound Devices PIX 260i Rack-Mountable Video Recorder with Timecode is a file-based video recorder and player that records in up to 12-bit 4:4:4 1080p over 3G-SDI by means of Apple's ProRes 4444 codec. You can also record in ProRes 4:2:2 and Avid's DNxHD. For ProRes 4444 the transfer rate is 330Mbps and for the other codecs 220Mbps. Additional to video you can record up to 32 tracks of 48 kHz audio over Ethernet. The 260i up until the end of 2012 supported only up to 10-bit 4:2:2 recording. At the end of 2012 ProRes 4444 was added. If the recorder you receive doesn't natively support 12-bit 4:4:4, you would simply need to download a free firmware upgrade from the Sound Devices website.
