This is a replacement that has been installed in a G Drive portable. The first one lasted about 3 years with moderate use. I hope this one does at least that.

I have purchase about a half dozen of these - some I installed in other peoples' computers. I clone my hard drives using a machine as a form of backup insurance.

Can't Wait To Buy My Next One

I purchased the 1TB Travelstar 2.5 7200rpm HD as a replacement for my newly purchased 500 GB gaming system. After considerable studying and research, I figured out how to replace the 500 GB drive and enjoyed putting together a quick brochure on doing so. The Travelstar fits perfectly into enclosure at 9.5mm. Once fully installed, it ran with a noticeable but not distracting hum. I only mention this because after about 3-5 hours usage a day for a week, it now runs silent after initial boot up click. Very affordable and will definitely try a 2TB or higher next time.

Small Size, Big Storage

I purchased this hard drive to store video files that I need to archive. The 1Tb size along with 7200rpm rotation give me the size and speed I needed for the larger video files. I am using it with an external drive caddy and this seems to work fine. I also purchased this drive previously as a second drive in my laptop. It has worked without any problems so far.

Works as advertised.

Purchased this to replace a failed HD on my MacBook Pro. It works as advertised. The 7200rpm speed and larger cache did produce a modest boost in performance compared to the original 5400rpm drive.

I bought this drive to replace my 2011 Macbook Pro 750GB hard drive that had failed. It took about 15 minutes to swap out the drive, 10 minutes to restart from a bootable clone back up drive, and start the restore 720 GB of data. When the back up completed, the machine booted up off of the new drive. All data and applications intact and I had an additional 250 GB of free space available. It has been running fine ever since, and the performance/speed is at least as good as the old drive.

i would buy this product again

Is this drive compatible with an AverMedia DVR?
Asked by: Anonymous
It should work as long as the provided cable is a sata type. I use my HGST 2.5 on a blu ray player thru USB to connect & run MKV movies(exFAT big files 32GB max)and laptop use. Some media devices only run on FAT32 format therefore limiting 4GB file max.Check manufacturer requirement

question

I need Qty 3; IT MUST BE FULLY COMPATIBLE TO PANASONIC CF-18 TOUGHBOOK MARK 1 TO 3 VERSION?
Asked by: david k.
David:All of the newer computers I have used have the SATA III interface as does this great, little Travelstar. I have no information concerning your Toughbook and since what I did find said that it shipped with a 60GB HDD, I wonder whether that is a previous generation HDD. Please check with your documentation for type of HDD or check the HDD in your Toughbook for type of connection.

question

Is this hard drive compatible with a Asus r500a? Thanks
Asked by: patrick
It's a standard size HD. So I would say chances are it will work. But I can NOT guarantee. But this works in most current laptops that allow you to change the HD. Make sure you can return it if the hd does not work. Also, you should know how to format and set it up.
