The Pentax 90mm f/2.8 D FA 645 Macro ED AW SR Lens is a fast, medium-length lens (equivalent to 71mm in 35mm-format) for use with Pentax 645-mount medium format cameras. The f/2.8 maximum aperture provides greater control over depth of field and features rounded 9-blade diaphragm construction. This lens has the Pentax Quick-Shift Focus System for rapid switching between auto and manual focus modes, and integrates a Shake Reduction mechanism for countering the effects of camera shake or image blur.

Both an HD Coating and Aero Bright Coating are applied to lens elements in order to improve overall light transmission while reducing flare and ghosting. A Super Protect (SP) coating is also applied for protection against the elements and to ease cleaning of the lens. In addition to the SP coating, the overall construction of the lens is also weather resistant and dustproof.

Compatible with Pentax 645 AF2 lens mounts.
Medium portrait-length lens is equivalent to 71mm in 35mm format, giving a slightly longer-than-normal angle of view.
Fast, bright f/2.8 maximum aperture helps control depth of field and enables greater versatility when working in low-light conditions.
Quick-Shift Focus System allows you to instantly switch between auto and manual focusing modes.
HD, Aero Bright, and SP coatings help to improve light transmission, reduce lens flare and ghosting, and aid in greater protection for the lens surfaces.
Dustproof and weather-resistant construction provide increased protection when working in poor conditions.

90mm f/2.8 D FA 645 Macro ED AW SR Lens is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Lens, Ultra Sharp I recently purchased this lens along with a Pentax 645z outfit and couldn't be more impressed. I have compared the results of this and several other Pentax lenses with comparable ones captured with my PhaseOne IQ180 outfit, and in every case the Pentax images are sharper, more detailed and with equal or superior color and bokeh. And, of course, the Pentax's dynamic range blows the PhaseOne away. This 90mm Pentax lens is simply outstanding and if it is an example of what Pentax has in store for us, all I can say is wow. I am a professional fine-art photographer and have owned most of the top Hasselblad and PhaseOne camera systems, but none have impressed me as much as the Pentax 645Z which, price-wise, sells for virtually pocket change. I pity its competitors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another must-have lens! I can't speak for its macro abilities (as I have not tested them), but this 90mm is in the same category with the other absolutely recommended lens for the 645 system, the 25mm f/4 AL (IF) SDM AW. Both lenses are pricey, but well worth the investment, as they won't disappoint. Both offer fast and accurate focusing, as well as amazingly detailed images. The silent built-in image stabilization works well, adding about 2 stops advantage in real world applications.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very very sharp I have had the lens for approximately one week, and so far I have been quite pleased with it's performance especially at f2.8. The software upgrade to the camera was strait forward with no problems encountered. The anti shack system works well but can not be used in combination with HDR. At first I thought something was wrong until I shut off the HDR. The auto-focus did a lot of hunting, but in close up work focusing manually is the best way to go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Lens in the basket The more I use this lens, the more I like it. While it took a small amount of learning curve to figure out the Pentax 645Z, the use of this lens surely helped. It is tack sharp and compares favorable with my Canon 85mm 1.2 as well as my Canon 100mm Macro lens. Ive used it with and without a Polarizer and looking forward to testing it with ND Filters. It is considered heavy by some, but Im use to the 70-200, seems about the same.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just the right focal length... ...for couples, head shots, candids, macros. This lens is ultra sharp, the chroma is much better controlled then the older 645FA series lenses. I had been using the 150mm f/2.8 which is a great lens but with no IS and chroma just bad enough to make correction difficult I'm relieved to have this lens. The 75 was a little wide for portraits in my opinion so this lens fills the sweet spot. I purchased USED through B&H, first lens arrived with faulty Shake Reduction but B&H made it right and had another used one available. I've attached two photos, one at the closest focus distance and another at about 6-7 feet away. Corrected for exposure and crushed the blacks just a bit but I left the chroma and vignette corrections in LR off.
