Nikon MC-30A Reviews

Mechanical-like Precision Of The Steel Shutter Release Cable, But With Electronic Precision.

I Needed To Move The Camera From Left To Right, And From Right To Left, On A Set Of Stereo Bars. I Do Stereo Photography, And I Must Be Sure The Film Is Framed, And The Exposure Is Completed, Before The Camera's Movement Is Even Started, And Then, Quickly.

No frills. All function.

I had a generic aftermarket wired remote trigger that lasted 6 months and then went kaput. Replaced with this Nikon trigger and it's working like a champ. I'm sure this one will be more reliable. If not, I'll be editing this review. Ha!

I have had an MC 30 for many years and when I saw that my D810 had a 10 pin socket for the release I was quite pleased. However, whenever I connect my MC30 to the D810, the Info screen will not come on and I cannot change my ISO. Will I have the same problem with the MC30A?
Asked by: James
Yes, connection issues of are the culprit, glad it worked.

question

Does this work with a Nikon D610? It is not listed in the description
Asked by: Leigh B.
Unfortunately, no, the Nikon MC-30A Remote Trigger Release is not compatible with the Nikon D610. It is only compatible with Nikon DSLR cameras which use the Nikon 10-pin remote terminal. The Nikon D610 DSLR camera uses the DC2 remote terminal, and as such, it would require the Nikon MC-DC2 Remote Release Cord, B&H# NIMCDC2, for use on the Nikon D610 DSLR camera.

question

Can this remote be used to start/stop video recording on a Nikon D500 body?
Asked by: IVAN
Possibly, if you program the shutter button to start and stop recording when camera is in live view movie mode (menu G1, movie custom control assignment). I haven't tried it but NikonUSA product forum provided this workaround for the D800.
