    Kirk PZ-130 reviews

PZ-130 Universal Camera Plate for Point and Shoot Cameras is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Kirk PZ-130 and Panasonic LX-7 As with all Kirk camera plates, the PZ-130 is a nice solid piece of precision machined, hard anodized, aluminum: the Panny LX-7 camera base or tripod head would fail before the Kirk plate does. The anti-rotation lip is wonderful and a critical feature for this particular plate. On the LX-7 the lip fits best on the back side of the camera (at the base of the LCD). The rubber pad that sits in between the plate and the camera base is good but it would be great if it were thinner (similar protection with less bulk). With that in mind, it would be nice if the entire plate could be machined down thinner, overall. Any camera plate adds bulk but a universal plate for small cameras, like this, could probably lose more weight without sacrificing any functional strength.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect fit for the Ricoh GR II... For anyone who has been searching for a mini Arca-style plate with a lip for their Ricoh GR/II, this is the one. The PZ-130's narrow profile fits perfectly on the base of the camera without any bulk and practically no overhang. I mounted it using the middle slot with the lip oriented towards the back and the connection is rock soild with absolutely no movement or spin. My only criticism is that it has to be removed to access the battery/SD slot, but until someone makes a plate specifically for the GR, this is as good a solution as I think I will find. For as small as it is, $30 may seem expensive but it is a Kirk - you get a premium USA made product that just works, fits perfectly for the Ricoh, and will last.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great on Olympus E-PL5 I wanted a Arca-Swiss compatible plate for my new Olympus E-PL5. I was worried about compatibility with the folding screen and with the tripod hole so close to the battery door. Nevertheless, it fits well on the camera, the lip hugs the front side of the camera, and using one of the side slots, the battery door is not blocked, and the screen is not impacted. Seems plenty sturdy, but no real test, since the camera is so light.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Finally, a QR plate for my Panasonic Lumix GM-1! Because of the small size of the camera body, it has been difficult to find an Arca-Swiss compatible QR plate for my Panasonic Lumix GM-1 that has a lip to prevent the camera from twisting on the tripod head (especially when using a long lens in the portrait orientation) AND won't block the battery and memory card compartment door. After several QR plate purchases that didn't do the job, an old forum post identified this Kirk plate for point-and-shoot cameras. While not inexpensive, it fits and performs perfectly. Don't let the "point-and-shoot" description in the name lead you to think that this won't work for small mirrorless camera systems. I wish I had learned of this product earlier. I'm quite satisfied with this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PZ-130 fits Olympus XZ-2 An online blog suggested using the PZ-130 Universal Camera Plate for the Olympus XZ-2 advanced point-and-shoot camera. The plate has three slots to hold the captive hex bolt. One end of each slot has threads so that the bolt can be moved to another slot. For the Olympus ZX-2, I moved the bolt to the end slot. This now allowed the battery cover to open freely without first having to remove the plate. Also the width of the plate is about equal with the width of the camera body. Nicely made, fits my camera, and serves it purpose.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid plate for smaller cameras Instead of spending more for a dedicated plate for my NEX-6, I bought one of the PZ-130 plates. Its small size and low profile go very well with a camera like the NEX-6, and it likely can be used with similarly sized mirrorless cameras without any issues. It has a small anti-twist flange and a compressible rubber surface, which helps it stay put on the camera once you screw it in. It works very well with my NEX-6, but I probably would not use it for anything bigger or heavier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This one works! This is the best-fitting Arca-compatible camera plate for higher-end (thick) point-and-shoots that I've found. For really large point-and-shoots (e.g. Nikon Coolpix P7100 and Canon G-series), a dedicated L-bracket is the most versatile solution, but for the next smaller size group, such as my Nikon Coolpix P6000, the front-to-back measurement of the plate becomes critical. This Kirk plate is beautifully machined and is the perfect size for the P6000. I mounted it with the anti-twist flange (lip) at the rear edge of the camera (the lens surround interferes at the front) and it fits like a custom plate (although the card/battery door can't open quite all the way as-is, but it will with a little enlarging of the retainer screw slot toward the end of the plate, easily accomplished with a side-cutting drill bit or round file). Nice!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ideal for small cameras - EOS-M perfect This fits the EOS-M perfectly as it does not stick out the front or back so does not interfere with mounting of lenses or any other accessories. I have several other plates and they all prevented some lenses from mounting on my little M. It has a small lip on one side that helps prevent it from rotating and a very grippy surface. Well made and worth the price just because it fits.
