Key Features
  • 24MP Full-Frame Leica Max CMOS Sensor
  • Leica Maestro Image Processor
  • 3.0" 920k-Dot LCD Monitor
  • Full HD 1080p Video Recording
The black M (Typ 240) Digital Rangefinder Camera from Leica is a traditionally-styled M-series camera that blends elements of Leica's celebrated past with contemporary imaging technology. This camera features a full-frame Leica Max 24MP CMOS sensor and Maestro image processor to realize rich image quality with low noise levels and smooth color and tonal gradations. The sensor and processor combination also avails the ability to shoot continuously up to 3 fps, record full HD 1080p video, and enable a top sensitivity of ISO 6400. Unique among digital cameras, the M maintains Leica's preference for a rangefinder design and incorporates a 0.68x optical viewfinder with split and superimposed manual focusing and automatic parallax correction. Alternatively, the M is also the first M-series camera to integrate live view shooting capabilities, with the added convenience of being able to check focus and composition on the rear 3.0" 920k-dot LCD monitor.

question

What is so good about this camera?? It looks like a Sony RX100.
Asked by: Lee
Shooting with a Leica is unlike any other camera. If its superbly organic style of shooting is what you need to express yourself, then you get one. It is also a luxury brand. Therefore the experience of photography with Leica is like riding in a BMW 7 series rather than a Ford Fiesta.

question

Can you shoot tethered? Can you attach a tripod mount? Do any of the Leica cameras shoot raw? Thanks!!
Asked by: Anonymous
The Leica M Typ 240 can shoot RAW images. Tethering is achieved using the Leica Image Shuttle software which can be downloaded on the Leica website once you register the camera. This camera can mount to a standard tripod with a 1/4-20 thread.

Asked by: Won Koo K.
There are small Slave Cubes for about $35 which can help. You simply put the main flash into the cube, like a hot-shoe and put any small flash, like a Metz24... all Metz flashes have a TTL model for Leica and most other brand hot-shoes w/TTL. Check the flashes available at B&H, there are mayn for under $100.
