The Big Fish Audio Grand Piano Collection DVD (Plug-in/UVI) features high-quality sounding sampled pianos. A good sounding piano is a rare alchemy between the instrument, the acoustics in the recording studio, the microphones, and above all, the engineer's taste.

Grand Piano Collection highlights five wonderful instruments: Steinway D Concert Grand, Fazioli F278 Concert, Erard Baby Grand Piano, Seiler Upright Grand, and Japanese Upright.

First, the right instrument was found. Then, 2 different classical and jazz pianists, both outstanding concert performers, were solicited to lend a hand finding the ideal one. After some research and dozens of pianos reviewed, the amazing sounding models that all the consultants loved were found. Then some of the best recording studios in Europe were booked for several days. As the tuning work is important, the best qualified person for this essential part of the process was hired.

During the recording, the very best sounding quality gear was used. But for each piano, a different set up was selected to give different colors for each of the 5 instruments. And thanks to UVI Engine's advanced keygroup layers and rule switching, the sustain pedal and release samples perform and "feel" like a real piano.

At the end of the process, during the editing of samples, a great instrumentalist was consulted to test the result of this work, and then the instruments were improved to make it really enjoyable.

In the maze of piano sample libraries, Grand Piano Collection has a very unique place: the UVI philosophy regarding pianos is to propose truly musical and excellent sounding presets, but with a convenient and "realistic" size (around 20 GB for 5 instruments). It's also one of the most versatile libraries thanks to the choice of very different sounding instruments.
