Canon PRO-10 overview

  • 1Description

The Canon PIXMA PRO-10 Wireless Professional Inkjet Photo Printer features a 4800 x 2400 dpi resolution and Canon's FINE technology with an ink drop as small as 4.0 pl. The printer's 10-cartridge ink system provides a wide color range and includes 3 black inks for high-quality black-and-white photos. The Pro-10 can output borderless prints up to 13 x 19" and is compatible with a wide range of media, including glossy, luster, and matte photo paper as well as Museum Etching and other fine art papers. Additionally, you can print directly on CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray discs and create your own customizable discs and jackets. The included Print Studio Pro plug in software provides an easy way to achieve optimal results when printing directly from Adobe Photoshop CS and Elements, as well as from Adobe Photoshop Lightroom.

The PIXMA Pro-10 features multiple connectivity options so you can easily print from your different devices. In addition to a standard USB connection, you can connect to the printer over a wired or wireless Ethernet network. Additionally, you can use the front-facing USB port to print directly from a compatible digital camera with PictBridge compatibility.

Print Speeds

Print an 8.0x10" image in approximately 3 minutes 35 seconds and an 11x14" image in approximately 5 minutes 20 seconds

Canon FINE Technology

Canon Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE) features a patented print head that enables printing with microscopic droplets and high resolution up to 4800 x 2400 dpi

True Monochrome Prints

The 3 monochrome inks which are part of the 10-ink LUCIA system consist of Photo Black, Matte Black, and Gray. These inks deliver enhanced, deep black density to raise your level of professional print quality when creating the dramatic expression of grayscale photography. The premium LUCIA monochrome inks work together with the Chroma Optimizer to reduce the effect of bronzing. As a result, your printed photos will have expanded dynamic range, especially in the darker or shadow areas of the image

Uniform Ink Height

The Chroma Optimizer brings uniform ink height over the printed image and regulates surface reflection. This maintains the natural color and integrity of your printed photos

Optimum Analysis & Mixture Of Color

The Optimum Image Generating (OIG) System utilizes two major technologies that were first introduced in the PIXMA PRO-1. The first is a sophisticated mixing balance of inks determined from numerous ink combinations and advanced analysis. During this analysis, the OIG System carefully calculates the best results for each print mode and paper type used while looking at various image factors including color reproduction, tonal gradations, black density, low graininess, glossiness, anti-bronzing and anti-metamerism. These critical ink balancing principles are derived from Canon's expertise in imaging technology, as well as the familiar colors of life that people see and remember on a daily basis. The second is the balancing of color reproduction, tonal gradations, and uniform glossiness. The genius and power of the OIG System is truly showcased when your image is printed, exhibited, and is seen exactly as you envisioned it

Pro Printing

The powerful Print Studio Pro plug-in software provides professional photographers effective printing solutions and can directly hand-over image data. Print Studio Pro is compatible with Digital Photo Professional (ver. 2.1 or later), Adobe Photoshop CS, Photoshop Elements, and Photoshop Lightroom

    Canon PRO-10 reviews

PIXMA PRO-10 Wireless Professional Inkjet Photo Printer is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 221.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best. Got this one 2 years ago. It is used solely for photography. One thing is evident: this printer is too good to be used to simply print documents. For hat purpose, get something all in one and cheap. Back to the topic: colors are crisp, they are wysiwyg so make sure your monitor is correctly calibrated. Ink costs about $15.00 per cartridge, not bad especially since they don't all need replacing at the same time. Black and white photographs are striking, with true blacks and various grey tones. The software is good, allowing a bunch of different integrators (all adobes and most others). The results are indistinguishable from museum quality. I'll get the eventual replacement for sure. This printer is great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful Printer but.... This is my second Pixma Pro-10. The first one was defective out of the box. It only printed blue and gray - no other color. B and H promptly sent a replacement that prints fantastic photos. My only complaint is the network connection. I can only get it to print via a USB connector. I contacted Canon and they sent me instructions that basically say to ignore the instructions that came with the printer. I followed their instructions to no avail. They were written for an earlier Mac OS. I don't anticipate printing photos on a daily basis and since it takes a few minutes to print a photo, I'm just going to grab a laptop and connect it to the printer via the USB.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A match for my 5D Mk3 and L-lenses If you can justify shooting full frame at the high end and care about the difference in top-of-the line L-series lenses (or don't think that owning a 24mm TS is silly), don't make your printer the weak link in the chain. I upgraded from a Pixma 9000 Mk2 and in a set of large size reference prints from a RAW-based image (printed both with the Easy Photo Print software and the Print Studio Pro Photoshop/Lightroom plug-in) the difference is noticeable: truer colors, no hue in the shadows, stunning sharpness. Of course the printer supports ICC profiles and together with the right papers enables museum-quality prints that will outlast my equipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Printer Upgrade Since I purchased the Pixma Pro 10 I have printed over 25 8 X10's, several 5X7's and 6X4's including one 13 X19. The printer is doing a great job. Very impressive results in detail, color, and saturation. I realize the ink can run up the cost however if I had used my ole printer I know I would have sent more on ink. The only negative I can find with the printer is documents. This is a photo printer and documents are printed very slow. You can overcome this by selecting paper output and the printer does well. Still going through the learning curve so as time moves forward hope to work out all of these little details This is my first Canon Product and I have to say I am very pleased. One final note Canon's technical support have been great. All questions and concerns were handled completely.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stunning Accessible Photo Printer I had a wonderful Epson Photo Printer that had developed some quirks, so I decided to replace it. I narrowed my choices to Canon Pixma Pro-1, Pixma Pro-10 and the Pixma Pro-100. I learned from one of the reviewers the differences between dye-based inks and pigment-based inks, differences which were not obvious to me when I read the material from Canon. I decided on pigment-based ink and narrowed the choice between Canon Pixma Pro-1 and Pixma Pro-10. For the money and the amount of photo printing that I intend to do, this meets my needs. Once I received the printer, I just followed the directions. Set up was easy, painless. The initial prints were stunning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, but printing 11x14 borderless is NOT native Like other Canon Pro series printers, 11x14 is not a native paper size, despite its widespread use by photographers. If you want to use your Pro-10 to print 11x14 borderless, there is a work around. Google How to Print 11x14 Borderless on a Canon Printer - the first result is a website with specific instructions. It involves telling the printer you are printing on 14x17 paper and adding a margin to your 11x14 image. The printer will then feed 11x14 paper and print borderlessly. It's important to follow the instructions precisely though - Google it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this printer! Bought the Pixma Pro 10 right before Christmas. I have wanted one for 3 years and finally decided to Go for it. It was easy to set up and load the ink cartridges. Only took a few minutes for it to go through the setup procedure. I have a lot of high quality pics that I have taken with my 5D markii, and as soon as it was ready I started printing. Totally amazed at the print quality! I was so blown away I ended up printing 7 13x19, And 14 8/12x11 prints. They all printed in framing quality. I just cant say enough about this printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I like my new Canon Pro-10 ! The print quality is excellent and equals prints from MPIX, Bay Labs, Adorama and Costco. I am an occasional printer. My colleagues recommended this printer vs an Epson because the print head does not dry out if you don't use it often. I called Canon tech support a couple of times last week and got very good support too. The Canon plugin for Lightroom that came on the installation disk, Print Studio Pro, is very easy to use - much easier than Lightroom's print module. Canon's Web site provides easy access to ICC profiles for many non-Canon papers.
