Equinox HD5 Overview

The HD5 Underwater Housing for Sony HDR-CX580V Camcorder from Equinox is a durable waterproof case for your Sony HDR-CX580V camcorder. It enables you to shoot beneath the surface to a maximum depth of 330' (100.6 m).

The housing provides access to essential camcorder functions via manual mechanical controls. It's constructed from thermal-based polyvinyl carbonate, and is equipped with an integrated dome lens port. It also comes with a wide-angle lens, which enables you to get close to your subject while fitting more in the frame, thus cutting down on distortion caused by the water and improving contrast and color, while providing a greater angle of view. An included external color correction filter for blue water helps to restore some of the colors that are lost underwater, restoring vibrancy and color fidelity to your images.

The BRS / Ballast Release System provides two benefits: Easy travel and fast transport to the surface, should you run into trouble during your dive. Simply pull on the quick release pin on one of the wings and the wing and ballast/handle will both be released. The housing will become positive in buoyancy and shoot to the water's surface.

Lens Port and Lens
Equipped with a built-in dome port that accommodates the included 58mm diameter wide-angle lens. This lens attaches directly to the camcorder inside the housing. It enables you to get close to your subject while fitting more in the frame, thus cutting down on distortion caused by the water and improving contrast and color, while providing about a 10° greater angle of view. The lens also has a macro diopter that allows you to shoot close-ups with your camcorder while still focusing clearly and still obtaining the wide 16:9 aspect ratio
Color Correction Filters
An included external color correction filter for blue water helps to restore some of the colors that are lost underwater, restoring vibrancy and color fidelity to your images
Ballast Release System
BRS serves two purposes: Easy travel and quick transport to the surface, in case you encounter trouble while on a dive. Just pull on the quick release pin on one of the wings and the wing and ballast/handle will both be released. The housing will then become positive in buoyancy and shoot to the surface
