Hensel Integra 500 overview

  • 1Description

The Hensel Integra 500 Monolight provides the control, power and the quality features that photographers, no matter their field, desire. Start with its flexible power setting allowing precise output selection from its 500W/s capacity over six f/stops in 1/10 stop increments. Settings are visible on an easy-to-read LED screen. The powerful 300W modeling light is strong enough for the multi-tasking image maker to shoot video and for strobe work it can be set to proportional to preview the effect of the flash. Besides fan-cooling, which lengthens the life of the flash tube and modeling lamp, as well as the unit's circuitry, an electronic system continuously monitors the unit's operation, ensuring that after a user-adjustable interval (5-90 min), the modeling light power is reduced to a preset value. As soon as the unit is reactivated, the previous value is restored.

The Integra 500 boasts short flash durations of 1/500 sec. (t0.1) and a very short recycling time of only 2.2 seconds at full power. The durable, extruded aluminum alloy cylindrical body features a built-in ergonomic handle and improved quick-action reflector mount. The stand mount, fixed on previous models, now slides along the body so that the correct fulcrum point can be found to counterbalance front-heavy accessories like large softboxes. Other features include visual and audible recycling alerts, a user replaceable flash tube and a protective dome.

Six Stop Range
Adjustable in 0.1 stop clicks, on the illuminated front panel, from full to 1/32 power output
Optical Slave
Built-in optical slave allows wireless firing without a sync cord
300W Modeling Light
The smart 300W modeling light goes far beyond conventional full and proportional power operation. An electronic system continuously monitors the unit's operation, ensuring that after user-adjustable time (5 - 90 min.), the modeling light power is reduced to a preset value. As soon as the unit is reactivated, the previous value is restored.
User Replaceable Flash Tube
Economical and easy to replace flash tube minimizes downtime
Fan-Cooled
Fan cooling lengthens the life of the flash tube, modeling light and the flash head's electronics
Flash Check
  • Dims the modeling light while charging the capacitors
  • When the capacitors are at 100%, the modeling light relights
  • Protective Glass Dome
  • Surrounds the flash tube for added safety
  • Optional glass domes available for control over color temperature of the flash
  • Compact Ergonomic Design
  • Strong cylindrical aluminum alloy housing with cast aluminum alloy reflector mounting
  • Built-in handle
  • Shifting pan-tilt support balances heavy accessories

    Hensel Integra 500 reviews

Integra 500 Monolight is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Profoto Feel for less than 1/2 The Price We have only had the units for a few weeks but so far they are fantastic. I operate an automotive photography studio. All indoor use and mostly fixed operation (as in settings and locations of lights rarely move). Consistent output and recycle times. I have used the D1 500w for years and was looking for a workhorse replacement at a lower price level. Only difference I can tell so far is a slightly slower recycle time. Did NOT all come with a modeling light bulb. Purchased 6 and all but 1 was missing. Solidly packaged.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Mercedes of monolights Used in a studio environment with sboxes/bdishes, recycles fast, no color shifts on low output. Like the control dial for output and the dual voltage capability. Very solid construction, it oozes quality. Definitely worth the investment, will last a long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable workhorse I've added several of these to my studio over the years. I've found them to be durable and incredibly reliable. Fast recycle times with consistent output. I've grown to prefer them over power packs for their simplicity of operation and completely independent output.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Monolight I did purchase 4 of this Integra Pro Plus few years ago. I'm very pleased with this lights. All 4 working perfect. If you looking for quality and reliability that is it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from UPDATE Profoto Feel for less than 1/2 The Price 22 months in and we have had a great experience with these units. 60 vehicles a day, 30 shots per vehicle, roughly 20 work days a month. What does this all mean? Each of our Integra 500's have fired 800,000 times.... WOW. Of the six flashes, one broke. It overheated and fried the bulb in place. Keep in mind our warehouse varies from 50 to over 100 degrees (flashes are at the ceiling). If that is not 5 stars I don't know what is. For comparison sake, we had 6 Profoto D500 airs in the exact same work environment. We had MUCH more problems over a similar (30 month) period of time. All but one of our Profotos had to be sent in for repairs that cost $500+ every time. CONCLUSION - Hensel Integra 500's are the definition of a workhorse monolight. Not a lot of frills (and we never use modeling lights) but if you want something with solid internals and a robust build, don't spend more than you need to. I am going to be purchasing 4 more for a new project this month.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I will and I have bought this product again. I own 4 Hensel 500 Integra Mono lights and two of the Hensel 500 watt Freemax monolights. I use one of the Freemax units on a boom to fire the other integral 500 lights from the camera with a Hensel Strobe Wizard Plus FREEMASK Transmitter. This combination works very well for me. The slaves in the Integra 500 mono lights are super sensitive. I shoot large and dark furniture that sometimes needs a light tucked under or hidden from the cameras view. The strobes all fire and set off the hidden one with no problem at all. I have knocked one of the stands over with a 7 inch reflector on it and the flash tube and modeling lamp did shatter but the light worked fine after I replace both. These lights have very clean color temperature and the images are clean and bright. I was skeptical at first with the 500 watts thinking I would not have enough power, but I just bump up the iso on the Canon 5d mark 4 and there is plenty of lights from these units. These are great lights and I just recently bought my 6th one.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Integra 500 Monolight by Hensel Item arrived in a badly damaged box, within another used, battered box. The knob to secure the light to a light stand was broken - I requested one from Hensel since it was under warranty and I thought it would be easier than to send the light back to B&H.
