Rated 5 out of 5 by from GoPro cable is better than generic for some reason I purchased this cable for my GoPro Hero4 Silver camera. I am using it to connect a BOYA wireless microphone system (BY-WM5) to my camera to produce videos for YouTube. The reason I chose this cable is that I had tried 2 different off-brand cables and I could detect a periodic interference in the audio track of my videos. The other cables looked identical to the GoPro cable and I was not certain that there would be any difference in performance. However, the GoPro brand cable eliminates the interference and I am completely satisfied with my purchase. The reason may be a mystery but the outcome is what I am looking for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as easy as plug'n play This review I also provided some audio education for those who are not audio professionals to take full advantage using external audio with a Gopro.Camera model used: Gopro Hero 4 Silver and Black (both)- you can plug it in regardless. No need to reboot the camera. You can even insert this Gopro USB adapter cable adapter while Record is in progress , the audio will switch immediately to external as soon as you connect the USB in!!I also like that the USB plus is STRAIGHT and NOT in a L angle which doesn't get in the way of the HDMI jack allowing you to still connect your camera to a TV while using the USB audio all at once. I don't see why people like the L shape which does not prevent your Gopro USB jack to break for using a L shaped plug if that's what your idea is...If you're not sure what mic to buy that's going to work for sure? For example: the Samson LM5 didn't work too well. The audio was low and hissy! Here's what you want!:- I tested 2 lavaliere microphines from my existing lavaliere systems I use (BH sells both mics tested here) Azden EX503L unidirectional mic (captures more sound around it) $ and the Sony ECM166MP $ (unidirectional mic which is designed to capture audio to what's in front of it only if that's what you need) the cable length from these are about 4 to 6' which is perfect especially using with a helmet between it and the Gopro body. The audio quality of these 2 Mics I suggested here is extremely high and the Gopro also captured audio using these without a single hiss or noise. Not all 3.5mm mics work with the Gopro and might exhibit some hiss or the sound sensitivity from other mics (I tested) might not be loud enough or too loud like the Samson LM5 was a complete fail!. If you can't afford a Sony, buy the Azden. The sound is clear and hiss free. Buy the ones I tested!! Remember! There are TWO types of mics as I described above they are: Omnidirectional and Unidirectional! Buy the type that's best for your applications. Unidirectional mics only capture audio from a narrow path, only what's in front of it. omnidirectional allows a wider range and not so direct.Lastly, not sure if this is useful but the Gopro 3.5mm USB adapter here allows you to even capture (Line-In) DIRECT AUDIO from your iPhone's headphone jack music or any external MP3 player or sound board mixer, not only limited to use with mics.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pricey but good It does the Job! Camera: Gopro Hero 4 silver and black. Do not waste your money like I did trying to get knock off brands for less for a Gopro Hero 4. It just doesn't work. Buy genuine cables if you're using the USB for audio inputs. It does more that what you think! (I'm sure I'm the only one who tried this just for the hecK) Not only you can plug in microphones into this as usual but it ALSO, accepts Line-In audio(for example) to record music directly from your smart phone or mixer, etc. You will need the proper cables. For example: from your smart phone, you will want a 3.5mm stereo to 3.5mm stereo. From other sources, an RCA stereo to 3.5mm trs stereo Not sure if recording audio other than from just mics can be useful to you but the line in audio can be useful if your mic is connected to a mixer with multiple mics and you want to send audio outs from any device to the Gopro directly using this USB cable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gread mic adapter! I heard horror stories of folks buying cheaper mic adapters off of eBay or Amazon for their GoPro which led me to steer clear of them. I purchased the GoPro adapter to pair my Hero 4+ Silver with a Rode Videomicro and it has been stellar! No hissing or pops which was the major complaint of cheaper off brand adapters. I highly recommend this one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product Bought this to add an external microphone to my GoPro Hero 4 Silver, modified a GoPro housing to allow this to plug in with the housing on and then used a Sony ECM-CS3 Tie Clip Microphone. This set up allows me to record sound that the camera would not pick up while in the housing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works perfectly with my GoPro Hero3! I bought a GoPro with the intention of recording a video and planned to use a Sony UWP-V1 mic for better audio sound. Well, I got the camera and the mic and couldn't figure out how to connect the two. Well, I discovered that I needed this adapter. It took me two seconds to plug it in and I was in business.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Product is not intended for Hero4 Session! I am not sure how this product works because I have a GoPro Hero4 Session, however, I was looking for an adapter to attached a noise cancelling microphone to the camera. Not knowing much about the GoPro, i went to my nearest B&H and requested assistance from an employee. I was told I needed to purchase this adapter. I tried it on my camera and it didn't fit; the Session has a micro USB and this has a mini USB. I was given the runaround from the returns area back to the GoPro section of the store, 45 minutes later I was told that the Session has a built in microphone already and unfortunately does not allow for an external mic to be attached to it. Wish I would've known this sooner. I do appreciate their eagerness to help but it would help if they were better informed about the products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works Works as it should. If you are not getting optimal results from your external mic it is usually because you are not using a mic with an impedance of 2.2k ohms. Gopros run at this impedance. Most mics do not run at this impedance.
