PortaBrace MO-79G Reviews

Robust Portabrace

As expected this is a rugged little bag from the Portabrace team. I bought my first bag off them (Production Case) over 25 years ago and its still used in the field today. I have to admit I switched to Kata for a while mainly because their gear fits better and is more plyable than the Portabrace gear (Downside is it doesn't last as long). I'm using a SmallHD AC7 OLED monitor and the fit is snug with a little room below the divider to fit a Paralinx receiver. All in all its a tidy little bag that has plenty of protection for the contents. If there is one moan it would be, show us some examples how to set the monitor in the bag. I spent half a day playing with the velcro to get the right configuration.

Near Perfect, but still Standard Gear

I have been using Porta Brace Monitor cases for 35 years and this new model is just standard gear. Dinking around with all of the little internal velcros can be a bit of a pain, but it is necessary for getting the monitor to fit snugly inside. Unlike those older cases, this one does not have the built-in tilting stand, otherwise this case would be perfect. I also wish Porta Brace would provide a harder bottom with a lamp stand adapter, because these monitors end up either hand carried; on a table or chair; or on a lamp stand. Matthews make a lamp stand adapter for monitors, but I will just build my own from an old lamp spud.
