The E-Image EK50AAM Fluid Drag Video Head and Tripod is a video head and dual stage tripod leg system designed for video cameras weighing up to 13.2 pounds. The head has fixed pan and adjustable tilt fluid drag for smooth camera movements. The included quick release (QR) plate attaches to your camera with either of the included 1/4"-20 or 3/8"-16 camera tie-down screws. With the camera attached, the QR plate snaps into the cradle, which quickly and securely attaches your camera to the tripod head. The QR plate release system features a safety mechanism to help prevent accidentally releasing of the plate. The head also features an integrated forward/backward sliding plate which allows you to balance the camera on the head for optimal operation on a shot-by-shot need.

The tripod legs are made of an anodized aluminum alloy, with a fixed mid-level spreader and rotary clamping leg locks. The foot spikes are covered by removable anti-slip pads, and an integrated elastic leg wrap helps keep the legs closed for transport.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for the price Haven't used this thing much yet, but so far I really like it. Very solid, great construction. Cheap for what you get. I just wonder if it might have been worth the extra $100 to get the version with adjustable pan-drag. That version only lets you tilt up 45 degrees, though, while this one allows 75. Honestly, I always keep the pan drag pretty stiff anyways so it's not so bad for a starter set of sticks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice tripod unit for my specific use. I purchased the unit to support a rather large 63X spotting scope (5 inch by 18 inch optical tube) that weighs in at a bit over 9 pounds. As my primary use for the scope is to observe an eagles' nest, I needed a unit with the ability to control the scope's size and weight (at a slight downward angle) while maintaining a steady and stationary position for an extended length of time. The unit is absolutely perfect for my application. As the unit was offered as an item on a B&H two day sale, the unit's price was extremely attractive!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb I was about to buy a Sachtler second hand on Craigslist, but this bad boy was part of a weekly special at B&H and it is amazing. Great bag, perfect weight: secure on the ground but easy to lug, drag silky smooth, everything just works great. I was pining for my old Miller but not any more. Superb tripod.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Solid Start This video tripod is a good budget option, it's movements are smooth enough, construction is sturdy enough and the adjustable tension is a positive! It's really an all-around solid fluid head tripod. No complaints! And hard to argue with the price point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Built like a tank.. A+ An absolute tank, easy to use, the head has great resistance and allows you to get tiny adjustments without a second thought. No camera shake at all... well worth the cash and its even under priced.. The carry bag is high quality as well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Truthfully Its just Ok ! I bought this mainly for weight reasons, in that respect it is good. It's less than half the weight of my good miller head & sticks that I have been lugging around for years breaking my back. Unfortunately the head is not great, Both the pan & tilt are lumpy through their range & also its very difficult to get a clean even start to pans or tilts,, pretty frustrating having to redo shots because of this. The level bubble is useless, almost impossible to physically see where its situated on the head, finding I was having several goes at leveling & it still being wrong ! The heads spring balance is ok for cameras up to a kilo,,, but no discernable effect with larger payloads. If you haven't used a good head you will be probably be pretty happy,,, if you have used a good head,,, well you wont. I am happy with the Sticks though,, they are light, solid & come with a good carry bag :-) So summary ,, if you do lots of pans & tilts,,, its not great, I would look to spend a fair bit more. If your after a cheep, light & half decent head & tripod, it's a pretty good value entry level system. Cheers Craig

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding! Using this fluid head/tripod with a canon DSLR for a variety of projects/uses. It's a beast. Tripod is of solid construction and very stable/capable on a variety of terrains. Fluid head has adjustable drag and great range of motion (90* down) + counterbalanced. More than capable of handling a DSLR with mic, lights, etc. Probably better/best suited for a larger/heavier video camera. Was considering the Magnus VT-4000 but this was a bit cheaper. Probably a bit larger (and heavier) than the VT4000 when condensed? Carry case is nice and pretty rugged. Handles + removable shoulder strap. Interior pocket for miscellaneous items. Shipped with a Styrofoam piece that covers the head and another in the bag to protect the head from impact- both of which I will be keeping to make sure its protected when I'm on the go. Well worth the $. If this is in your price range look no further.
