E-Image EK60AAM overview

  • 1Description

The E-Image EK60AAM Fluid Drag Video Head and Tripod is a video head and dual stage tripod leg system designed for video cameras and rigs weighing up to 17.6 pounds. The system consists of the EH60 fluid drag head, the AT7402A aluminum tripod legs with fixed mid-level spreader, one HD7060 adjustable pan handle, and a soft bag for carrying the system. The head has fixed pan and tilt fluid drag for smooth camera moves, and a spring-loaded counterbalance system adjustable in three steps

The included sliding balance plate attaches to your camera with either of the included 1/4"-20 or 3/8"-16 camera tie-down screws. It then slides into the head's top plate, quickly and securely attaching your camera to the tripod. You can adjust the balance of the camera on the tripod head by sliding the baseplate forward or backward. The sliding balance plate system features a safety release to help prevent the sliding baseplate from accidentally sliding out of the tripod head.

    E-Image EK60AAM reviews

EK60AAM Fluid Drag Video Head and Tripod is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 79.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value lightweight movie tripod I have been a cameraman for over 40 years and have been using Arri, Panavision, Worral, O'Connor, Satchler and Ronford heads over the years with 35mm movie cameras. Now I shoot with DSLR cameras and this little head provides me with nearly all the features I need for a fraction of the price. The legs are sturdy with a built in spreader and clip on carpet feet as well as spikes for outdoor terrain. The head has smooth pan and tilt with a counterbalance Spring mechanism. The whole kit fits into an attractive weatherproof carrying case. Great value for money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth and Sturdy I got this as a BH daily special, and use it for DSLR video. I had previously bought a Magnus VT-4000 from BH, and I have nothing negative to say about that one. But the Magnus is by comparison a good consumer product, while the E-Image seems like a much more professional system. It is sturdy, and the leg interlocks feel very solid. It can handle a camera much heavier than my DSLR and heaviest lens. Others have complained that it is a little heavy. It is heavier than the typical tripod, but it has a nice case with a shoulder strap, so it is usable in the field. The head is smoother than that on the Magnus for pan and tilt. The instructions have that amusing not-quite-correct translation that we find in so many products now, but with a little intuition, setup is not rocket science. Some of the illustrations in the manual do not exactly match the tripod.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far, I'm liking it. Purchased this tripod when it was on sale via DealZone. I had been looking for a medium-duty tripod for smaller video cameras. I regularly use Miller and Manfrotto/Bogen tripods at work, I wanted something a bit cheaper for occasional personal use. For the price, this seems to be a very well built tripod. Fit and finish are good, the head movement is smooth, and may actually be a bit stiff - you aren't going to be making whip pans with this tripod. The head tension adjustments work well, and the different levels of tension/drag are easily noticed. The included tripod bag is well made and has room for a few small accessories. Keep the foam packing insert to prevent the tripod from sliding around in the bag. The leg locks are simple screw knobs (not latches or 1/2 turn knobs) so take care to not overtighten. Minor nits: The foot pad handles get in the way of the lower leg locks when the legs are collapsed. The accessory hook thing that is spring loaded to pull back into a leg section seems pretty useless, a simple fixed hook would have been much better. The spreader is fixed - the arms don't extend to allow a wider stance on uneven ground or wind. The included manual covers several different models of tripod and head, and the included head does not quite match any of the models in the manual. Finally, while this tripod may be rated for 17+ pounds, I wouldn't put a camera that heavy on it - not unique to this tripod, I think many tripods overstate their capacity. Be interesting to see how it holds up over time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product! This tripod was a Godsend for my small production company. I bought it when it was the Deal of The Day to replace an old Manfrotto with little life left in it. B&H service was great (as always). and I once again had an uneventful few days before the tripod came. Right on Time. As too the tripod itself I had very few problems. Its comes on an awesome padded case with straps inside to keep the tripod secure as well as a nice padded shoulder strap (really nice for when you have to carry the tripod around with you). I am very pleased with the head, the release system is very nice and the handle length it adjustable which is really nice. The legs are up to par, seem to hold up admirably, and no problem to expand/contract. The two things that kind of get at me are the feet and the spreader. The spreader is a fixed one. so if it kind of defies the purpose of a spreader which is to spread the legs so you can either lower or higher as needed. The feet are ok... but they wobble around and sometimes partially fall off when your moving the tripod. This can be fixed by removing the spreader and feet and putting on a ground spreader which you can also find here at B&H.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hands down value for money! For the budget conscious or videographer looking to enter a pro market, this is a great investment. I've used other high end models from Satchler, Manfrotto & Miller at different studios I have worked with. This tripod is a little lighter & less chunky than these other brands, but certainly doesn't pale on functionality. If you want a functional & solid tripod at a budget price - highly reccomended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Tripod I am a theatre videographer, as well as an independent filmaker. For the last 16 years, I have used much heavier tripods. I am shocked by the lightness, ease of set up, and break down. It is solid, and stable with a great fluid head. It has less drag then I'm use to, but it is seamless, smooth, and very user friendly. A professional grade tripod, well constructed, easy to work with, and great in the field, at a very reasonable price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Tripod you can buy for the Price After using this tripod for over a year on many commercial productions in the field and in studio. The one thing I can agree on is that the tripod is heavy, now that being said if you are looking for a run and gun setup this wont be the tripod you want. As far as the price goes, it is the tripod you want. For Pro video people, this is the tripod you want to start with. Two things I mainly look for in a tripod are sturdy legs and a reliable locking system, a fluid head, and a strong fluid head as well. When shopping for Manfrotto, a $800 price range will leave you with a fluid head that can barely hold 8 pounds. With E-Image you have a solid 17 pounds that is no more then $400. half the price double the weight. Now a few reviews did not like the weight, but for someone who does professional video work. The stiffer the pan or tilt, the smoother my pan or tilt will be. Having drag on your fluid head allows for better control in your movements so I really dont see the complaint being that viable unless you are trying to run and gun and want to slap your camera on and just whip your camera around and be done with it. The height of the tripod is ACTUALLY taller then most manfrottos, so AGAIN this complaint is so not viable....and as far as having poor copies, I only bought one and its been great so far! My teacher in film school always said to buy cheap legs and pay for a good fluid head, well this is the whole package. Sturdy legs, strong fluid head, and the case it comes with really helps. Everything fits in perfectly, dont be the guy who doesnt pack things properly and complains that things dont fit well. Take the time to fold everything down, "break down" and pack everything away. This is the most solid tripod you will find for the price, nothing out there beats it. Trust me I spend hours and days comparing gear, its my money too. Hope this helps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well Built - Excellent Value Great tripod for the price. Anything negative that could be said about it can be attributed to it not being three times the price. Clean movement both pan and tilt. Could it use a little more adjustment, sure, but that is why people spend the big bucks. It has been more than adequate for a C100.
