The Rokinon 85mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Sony E produces a slightly telephoto angle-of-view on full-frame sensors. It features a very fast maximum aperture of T1.5 and an eight-blade iris for shallow depth of field with attractive bokeh. The focus and aperture control rings are outfitted with industry standard gearing, which provides an interface for working with a traditional follow focus. The aperture control ring has also been de-clicked, which facilitates smooth iris pulls.

The 85mm has a minimum focus distance of 3.6'. Internal focusing minimizes the effects of lens breathing, which insures a more consistent angle-of-view when adjusting focus. The lens is composed of nine elements in seven groups, including one aspherical element to reduce spherical aberrations. In addition, multi-coated elements help improve light transmission.

85mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Sony E is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Telephoto Lens I bought this lens two weeks ago and tested it at home and outdoors. It is excellent for portraits with shallow DOF and beautiful bokeh. On my Sony NEX VG10 it is equal to 127.5mm telephoto lens. It can be used on the full frame sensor cameras like VG900 as well. It works very good with my VG10 - easy to adjust apperture and focus. For videos you need a good tripod and external mic. I like the quality of the video and photo images. This is great very fast telephoto prime lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great lens if you're on a budget. I use this for both video & stills. I love the clickless aperture control. It's sharpness is good/usable wide open at t/1.5 & gets sharper stopped down. If you're expecting really sharp images though, don't get your hopes up as this isn't that sharp overall. It's CA & fringing, is very noticeable when shooting wide open. I upgraded to the 85mm Batis now & the sharpness is a huge jump. This lens has gotten me some really epic photos & videos when I was on a budget. The focus throw is very long which makes it easy to make fine adjustments when shooting wide open. If you can't afford Zeiss or GM lenses, get this for your 85mm to hold you off until you can afford a quality AF lens. Keep in mind though, this lens is huge for a manual 85mm lens. I would NOT recommend this lens for APS-C bodies because it would be extremely front heavy & even less sharp. I'd recommend it only for FF.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stunning! This lens is a gem, absolutely gorgeous! stunning sharpness already fully opened! very smooth focus and aperture. unfortunately, the specs for the dimensions of this lens here on b&h are not correct: This lens comes with an adapter which is attached to the lens. This makes the lens about 2 inches longer!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well worth the money This is the third Rokinon lens I've recently put into the Sony FS100 field bag. Yes, the Rokinon lineup doesn't compare to the ease of moving from lens to lens in a $24,000 set of Zeiss lenses. That said, the price is 1/10th lenses at the higher end and the resulting image is very good (not major corporate client good, but really low budget creative Indie producer good). The 85 is a nice fit with the 24 and 35 we're already using. (Come on Rokinon, come to the party with a 50mm...)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great lens for a great price I purchased this lens a couple weeks ago along with a few other Rokinon e-mount lenses and haven't been able to put them down! I am using it on my Sony FS700 (previously I only had the stock lens unless I rented). The gear action is smooth and easy to operate with or without a follow focus. The picture looks great. My clients do not notice a difference from these lenses and some more expensive ones I would rent like Zeiss. One thing that keeps bugging me though is that the lens pouch that came with this one is too small. You cannot fit the lens hood in with the lens and it takes a little time to get the lens in and out of it. The other lenses I bought do not have this problem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good lens if you get a good lens This is the second Rokinon 85mm Cine lens I've bought from B&H. The first one I got was defective (aperture stuck wide open) but they got me a replacement pretty quick (they charged me for it, but credited me for the defective lens when it got back to them.) The lens seems very good to me. Beautiful wide open -- if there's softness at the corners it's not something that really comes across in live shooting. Stop it down a bit and it's as pretty as a CP.2 though not as contrasty. But in reading the reviews it seems like the key to happiness with Rokinon lenses is getting a good one. I always hate reviews that say It's a good lens for the price. It's either a good lens or not a good lens. This is a good lens. If you get a good one. Can you get a better lens for more money? Yup. But that doesn't mean the Rokinon has anything to apologize for. I think the 85mm is the prettiest of the Rokinon line -- that big objective lens is a masterwork of pho-chismo. My personal disappointment is that the Rokinons don't come in a PL mount. That way I could share them across cameras.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great portrait lens Great for HD video production. Solid built. Good size. Good weight. No chromatic aberations. Negligible spheric aberations. Good value for money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rokinon 85, T1.5 for Sony E I have an arsenal of up-to-date Nikons and wanted a low-cost lens for my Sony A7S (with which I shoot 4K video). This cine lens has utterly amazed me! My expectations were fairly low for a lens this inexpensive, but my flabber has rarely been so gasted! If I take notice of other reviews of Rokinon lenses, I must have been be extremely lucky with this particular unit. The geared focus ring works perfectly with my follow-focus unit. Focus is very smooth indeed. I thoroughly recommend this lens for video (for which I shoot totally manual-everything anyway). Pete
