    Gitzo GS5300S reviews

Systematic Ring Adapter (Series 2/3/4 to Series 5) is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolutely does NOT do what it claims to do. None of this is true; - Makes Series 5 Tripods 2/3/4 Compatible - This ring adapter enables you to use Series 2/3/4 accessories on a Series 5 tripod. (from Q&A section) I have at my disposal 4 Gitzo systematic tripods, 3 and 5 series, and a large number of Gitzo systematic accessories. this ring Absolutely does not adapt ANY 2,3, or 4 series accessories to work with a series 5 tripod. Gitzo's own instruction sheet (image attached) only illustrates this ring being added to Systematic accessorizes that will already fit System 5 AND system 2,3,4 tripods already. Items like the Leveling base, video bowl adapters, and the GH5380S head. I have all of the above, and all of them already work in either system 5 or the smaller tripods due to their dual step up ring design. It will not adapt something that is series 2,3, or 4 exclusively to work with system 5, such as Gitzo GS3311GS geared column, GS3311S rapid column, or GS1317 rapid column, or any Series 3 plates etc. What does sit do? I'm not rally sure but I believe it has something to do with the newer Systematic tripods newSafety catch design. (there are a number of closeup's in the instructions) That said, in my collection I have both new and old tripods and accessories with and without the safety catch, and the parts are all interchangeable regardless of the existence of the safety catch on either tripod or accessory. From what I can tell, it's a $75.00 ring shaped paper weight.
