Sachtler 1013 overview

  • 1Description

The Sachtler System Ace L TT 75/2 CF Carbon Fiber Tripod With Ace L Fluid Head is a full support system that's designed for shooting video with a compact HD or HDV/MiniDV camcorder, or a DSLR camera. It's appropriate for payloads between 0 and 13.2 lb, so most popular professional camcorders are well supported, as are accessories such as matte boxes and heavier batteries.

Two key features of the Ace L fluid head enable the execution of professional-level cinematic camera moves: balance and drag. The SA drag provides fine adjustment for precise panning and tilting, and seven steps of selectable counter-balance allow you to achieve precise balance, and stable operation. The glass fiber reinforced composite material makes the new 75mm fluid head especially light. The tilt range of the Ace L is -75 to +90°.

The Ace L head attaches to the three-section Telescopic Tripod TT 75/2 CF via a 75mm bowl attachment for professional stability and leveling. The tripod features single-tube carbon-fiber legs and magnesium die castings, for an excellent balance of light weight, good stability, and excellent load capacity. (On its own, the tripod is able to support loads up to 44 lb.)

By extending the two leg stages via the ergonomically designed, easy-to-operate flip locks, the TT 75/2 tripod reaches a maximum height of 67.3"; with the head attached, that rises to a very tall working height of 73.2". Meanwhile, the entire system weighs less than 10 lb. A padded bag is included.

    Sachtler 1013 reviews

System Ace L TT 75/2 CF Carbon Fiber Tripod With Ace L Fluid Head is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sachtler quality I work as a cameraman for TV and normally we still use the big expensive Sachtler tripods built for the Betacams. Last year I wanted to get a cheap tripod for my little Canon 5DM3. The possibility to get a Sachtler at this price sounded too good to be true, but trying it at the store, you get this Sachtler feel for tilts and pans. I was convinced. Now, it has become the goto tripped for most of my work. I can put an iPhone on it and it works, I can put a Canon C300 on it and it works, I can even put my big Sony PDW700 ENG camera on it and it is still usable in most situations. Having such a flexible and lightweight tripod is amazing. But is is not perfect. The pan doesn't have enough drag for my taste and there is a tiny little rebound at the end of the move. Also, when you install a slider, you should do it sideways and not in the axis, because even if you have the head looked down, there will be a bit of sagging at the end of the run. This tripod will stay with me for a very long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best tripod out there I am carrying this tripod around while covering 3 different venues during the World Cup in BRazil. IT IS LIGHT AND GREAT! I have been carrying tripods for me or for other cameramen for over 12 years. Used them all...can't begin to describe my happinness at owning this tripod. Only 4 kilos but very tough at the same time. Does wonderful pans and tilts. It gives you different degrees of resistance. It has no cons that I know of. It is pricey but it is worth every penny!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome tripod system Despite the fact that it's Sachtler's lower-end tripod system, this is a really well built combination. The CF legs are extremely stable yet light. I chose the TT legs because I wanted to be able to get very low and very high. The head is solid, well thought-out, has plenty of counter balance and drag adjustments, completely smooth and holds the heaviest version of my rig (about 8lbs) without any problem. I'm confident it will hold 13lbs and more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can it be used with DSLR & Slider? I am an amateur film maker and this was my first quality video tripod. Before I had a $tripod that actually gave good smooth tilts but not pans. The Ace L is awesome! The legs are super strong and sturdy. The head is smooth as butter and I love that you can change the drag setters (I've never had that before). It balancing my DSLR just fine with absolutely no gear attached.I wanted to get a tripod with solo legs but I was nervous that they might take too long to extend and shorten. I needed not be worried. Simple latches allow fast height adjustments on the legs--no twisting locking at all! These fasters work quick and secure the legs down firm. One of the things I was interested with trying was using this tripod with the PB 3ft Pocket Dolly. With the Ace L as the only support for the slider and DSLR it didn't work as well as I'd thought it would. The tripod base was sturdy enough and I didn't worry about it tipping over as I moved the camera to the ends. The problem actually occurred at the head. Even when firmly tightened down the head would tilt slightly when the camera slid to the ends of the slider. The tilting motion wasn't much and something you could get away with if you had to in the right circumstances. I would definitely not use this set up for timelapse work as I would not feel comfortable with the moment being placed on the head for long periods of time. I'm thinking there has to be a solution to lock the head down better than tightening the rod underneath the head. Overall great tripod but I wouldn't recommend using it solo with a 3 ft slider simply b/c of the head/tripod connection not because of the sturdiness of the legs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Terrific Tripod I am thrilled with my new Ace L tripod. During video shoots, I find it easy and intuitive to find the right balance point. And while this tripod provides me a sturdy and trust-worthy feeling, I can still move around easily with it--the carbon fiber is really not that heavy. I can not list any negatives, because so far I have not run into any. Bill

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not tough enough for pro work yeah, kinda bummed I didn't pop for the FSB-6 or FSB-8 head initially. The Ace L head hasn't held up under the work we do. The lock screw is bent, the plastic tilt lock lever fell off, the plate lock mechanism is jammed and won't work. And now, unlike a few years ago, Sachtler US won't reply to their email account... I'm disappointed all around, and I love(d) Sachtler. When it worked, it handle the weight of a C100 well enough. Our Red Raven and Scarlet are too heavy for it, whatever the specs say.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just put it through an international shoot with no problems I'm using this with a C100 that goes from minimal build to completely decked out (Rods, external recorder, EVF, Matte Box, etc.) big weight differences. The head has functioned beautifully, showing only a bit of limitation when really weighted down. Just got back from a six country shoot, where it was set up and broken down a lot. No problems with travel at all. All in all, it's great to be able to have a Sachtler Tripod for this price. What a world.
