AJA's Up/Down/Cross Converter is a broadcast quality Up/Down/Cross Mini-Converter which can convert between SD, HD, and 3G video formats. Using the same AJA industry leading conversion technology as in our model FS2, the UDC provides very high quality conversions in a cost-effective package. AJA UDC Overview

AJA's Up/Down/Cross Converter is a broadcast quality Up/Down/Cross Mini-Converter which can convert between SD, HD, and 3G video formats. Using the same AJA industry leading conversion technology as in our model FS2, the UDC provides very high quality conversions in a cost-effective package. I/Os include SD/HD/3G SDI Input and Output, HDMI output, and 2-channel RCA style audio output. The UDC can be controlled by local dipswitches with additional control available via USB and AJA's MiniConfig application. A Reference Input allows the UDC to be locked to a local reference.

HDCP
The UDC does not encode the HDMI output with HDCP encryption. By definition, HD-SDI inputs to the UDC are unencrypted. The HDMI specification requires HDMI monitors to support unencrypted inputs

does the reference input sync the converted output to my house timing so i can go straight into a production switcher?

If you provide a reference signal it will sync the converted signal. Note: The UDC does not convert frame ratesit works with the input frame rate. Theonly exception is a 3:2 function where 23.98 is converted to 59.94 (and 24 isconverted to 60). If a reference is provided, it must be in the same frame ratehierarchy as the input video (e.g., 23.98/29.97/59.94, 25/50, or 24/30/60).

Does this device convert 1080p to 720p using only the dipstick switches? Thanks.

You have the option of configuring this converter using the dip switches or via computer software when connected to a computer via a USB cable.

Can this convert 1080 29.97p to 1080 59.94i?

HI, I did not use this unit for this purpose but according to the spec sheet and the users manual it should do the job.To get the user's manual, google aja udc manual and the first link on the page should bring you to the AJA site at the manual's page (sorry, B&H does not allow for links to other web sites).Hope this helps.Daniel
