Windows RT is the installed operating system. Similarl to its big brother, Windows 8, Windows RT is optimized specifically for tablets. Windows RT is not quite the full-fledged operating system that Windows 8 is and Windows 8 applications cannot run on Windows RT, but Windows RT takes advantage of the ARM platform's power efficiency for longer battery life. Windows RT also uses the Windows Store for touch-optimized apps. Windows RT has its own version of Microsoft Office for an emphasis on productivity.
