The Hama Universal Flash Adapter is two seperate systems; upon its side are two "PC female" sockets, and upon the top is a "hot" shoe.  Between the two systems of this device is a swiveling hinge, allowing you to angle the flash placed on top if you desire.

The very bottom of the device has a "hot" button, which is used to trigger anything attached to the bottom PC female socket when the entire device is inserted into a camera's hot shoe and that camera is fired.  Whatever cord you would use to trigger a flash from the bottom PC female socket would need a "PC male" connection on one end and whatever connection interfaces with your flash upon the other.

The top of this device also has a PC female socket, but that socket is not activated merely by placing the entire device into a camera's hot shoe and firing the camera.  Instead, the top PC female socket fires the hot shoe which is on top of the unit.  With cameras that have both a PC female connection and a hot shoe, this device allows you to simultaneously trigger two flashes-all by reliable cords!

You simply connect a flash to the top of this device and attach a "PC male to PC male" cord between the top PC female socket upon this device and the camera's PC female socket to make the flash upon the top of this device fire(a small PC male to PC male cord is included).  For your second flash to fire, first attach this device to the camera's hot shoe, then use a PC cord to attach the bottom PC female socket of this device and your flash.

The two systems of this device are divided by a swiveling hinge, allowing you to angle the flash placed on top if you desire.

Hama HA-6899 reviews

Universal Flash Adapter is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst $ I've spent. Ever. I simply needed a way to use a pc cable with an older strobe without a pc connection. I liked the idea of the joint and dual connections for versatility and was willing to pay a bit more for it. Bad move. The joint has no washer so even though I screw the knob in as hard as I can, the joint is too loose and falls forward constantly. The shoe is too thick for most mounts and is hard to get in. The tightener for the shoe mount is difficult to move, has rounded edges (easier on the fingers but not very effective) and doesn't screw down tightly--my flash has actually fallen out twice. The cover on the top shoe mount has already come off after only about 4 uses. The piece works just fine electronically but is so cheap mechanically that it is effectively useless without some creative modifications.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Macro Photo Tip Using Hama Flash Adapter I use these as extension arms for my Canon MT 24EX. I dont need the Hot Shoe aspect of the product but this Flash Adapter is so sturdy compared to others I've tried that I keep recommending this one to my colleagues in the Dental field. It is an inexpensive alternative to flash brackets that cost several hundred dollars. It does not add any cumbersome weight to the your setup. I reverse the swivel screw on one adapter to allow the same swivel on the right or left flash. By extending the flash units an inch + on either side and turning them in, a light field is created in front of the subject eliminating harsh glare.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from useful, but poorly constructed I use this unit for extreme macro, to tilt my flash forward. Although it does a very good job of it, the unit's construction is such that I can't see it lasting long. It already has a lot of wobble after only a few days. If it were made from solid metal with a good tightener it would be perfect.Example of it on my stuff:@

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice, but not compatible with Cannon Wanted to use this to re-aim a Cannon speed light transmitter. The pins don't line up right with Cannon. But, it is a nice gadget if you have the right stuff.
