Amongst these little gizmos, this is one of the more complicated of the lot. This device is actually two separate systems; upon its side are two "PC female" sockets, and upon the top is a "hot" shoe.

The very bottom of the device has a "hot" button, which is used to trigger anything attached to the bottom PC female socket when the entire device is inserted into a camera's hot shoe and that camera is fired. Whatever cord you would use to trigger a flash from the bottom PC female socket would need a "PC male" connection on one end, and whatever connection interfaces with your flash upon the other.

The top of this device also has a PC female socket, but that socket is not activated merely by placing the entire device into a camera's hot shoe and firing the camera. Instead, the top PC female socket fires the hot shoe which is on top of the unit. With cameras that have both a PC female connection and a hot shoe, this device allows you to simultaneously trigger two flashes---all by reliable cords!

To simultaneously trigger two flashes with one camera, simply connect a flash to the top of this device and attach a "PC male to PC male" cord between the top PC female socket upon this device and the camera's PC female socket to make the flash upon the top of this device fire (a small PC male to PC male cord is included).  For your second flash to fire, first attach this device to the camera's hot shoe, then use a PC cord to attach the bottom PC female socket of this device and your flash. A straight or folding flash bracket such as the two listed here makes for a sensible accessory in this regard.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible, Terrible, Terrible The product does NOT work. I have purchased 4 of these units to date and none of them work at all. I have contacted the manufacturer in Germany in hopes to have them explain why they manufacture such garbage. The only directions for this unit are on one of the comment sections from someone who purchased the unit and nothing from the mfg. Anyway, if you care to waste your time exchanging this unit in hopes that you find one that works you'll be in my boat, otherwise I wish you luck in finding another option.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It works... I bought this to trigger my Canon 430EX by Pocket Wizard.. First thoughts, the hotshoe socket is tight.. real tight, so tight you'd think you bought the wrong product. The good thing is your flash wont fall out.. +1 Second thoughts, the bottom hotshoe doesn't have a screw thread.. meaning you cant screw it onto some cheaper lightstand like the Impact Light stand. You'ld need to buy a Impact Umbrella Bracket as well.. I didnt have one though so i used the stand that came with the Canon 430ex and used my Super Clamp. The hotshoe lock on the adapter is small and difficult to tighten. I used pliers to tighten mine.. last thing you want to hear is your flash shattering in a million pieces.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Quite Up To Speed Tried all sorts of adapters and this was my last hope. Does not work with older flashes like the Vivitar 283. Would not recommend to others.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Perfectly I have been using these for about 2 months off and on and find them to be excellent overall. They are perfect to mount my Canon 580EX Flashes in manual mode for off camera flash radio triggering. Excellent PC to Socket connection nice and tight so the cable does not fall out. Low profile and of course a mounting thread underneath. Very solid units and worth the extra over some of the cheaper brands that break easily. I believe these are of German manufacture.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent adapter! I purchased this product to use a speedlite on a flash stand wirelessly. Because the speetlite did not have a PC female sockets, I needed this Flash adapter for the wireless triggering to work. I had purchased other three products and among them this is truly the best. The two PC female sockets on the side of this adapter allows easy storage for the PC cord. While I'm not using the speedlite, I just plug the pc cord on the adapter and I won't be losing them again! For other products, I sometimes had difficulties when mounting the speedlite, but on this adapter by Hama, mounting the speedlite is real smooth. It is very easy to mount in and off. I recommend this product to everyone who needs to attach a speedlite on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from P.W. Plus II's and SB-600, Works Great! I personally am extremely happy with how these things perform. Very snug fit, no wobbling or looseness at all that I have seen when attached between my SB-600's and whatever base I have them on. Had these up and running with my PocketWizard Plus II Transceivers, from un-packaging to flashes firing, in about 5 minutes, meanwhile barely glancing at the instructions. Satisfaction!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works like a charm. I bought this because I own a Nikon SB-600 and needed to connect it to a wireless receiver. The receiver itself has a hotshoe, but it left the flash sitting atop the light stand with less-than-desirable stability. Enter the Hama Universal Flash Adapter which works amazingly well and is stable. The only complaint I have is the rigidity and size of the screw head that secures the adapter to a hotshoe. It's very difficult to tighten/loosen (or at least it is for my fingers). Regardless I will be buying more of these if I need them.
