Hasselblad H-3023720 overview

  • 1Description

The Macro Converter for H Lenses from Hasselblad is designed to improve the close focusing range of Hassleblad H series wide angle lenses. It is specifically compatible with the HC 50-II 50mm f/3.5 lens but will work on all H series lenses except the HCD 35-90mm and the HC 50-110mm zoom lenses. The converter mounts between the camera body and the lens and provides a clear, close-up image. The close range of the lens is similar to that of a 6.5mm extension tube but because the converter has a lens system comprised of 3 elements in 2 groups it will give a clear, noticeably better performance with no light loss.

Note: Is not compatible with the HCD 35-90mm and the HC 50-110mm zoom lenses

Macro Converter for H Lenses is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from You Get What You Pay For! I bought this macro converter because I needed to shoot closer with the HC 50-II both with the HTS converter and with the HC 50-II on its own. With the HTS Converter it is an amazing tool. Some would argue why not just use the 120 macro? While that it is a wonderful lens, sometimes it is just too much compression and the objects in the background look too large. This macro converter makes the 50mm with the HTS 1.5 a wonderful normal 80 mm equivalent macro along with the whole range of the H lens series from the 24mm to the 100mm. This entire focal range becomes incredibly sharp macro lenses! You could just pull back and crop into the image but it's hard to explain to a client why your 60 megapixel image now is only 15 because you couldn't get any closer due to focusing limitations! Using the HC 50-II with the Macro Converter and HTS 1.5 you once again have control like a traditional 4x5 without focusing limitations. With a front tilt, pulling focus is no longer an obstacle. The glass optics really make this converter superior to traditional extension tubes. Once you see the images it can produce the price is definitely justified. (I thought the price was crazy too until I used it!) With the 28mm it makes forced perspective really fun because you can get so close. Although I don't own the 24mm I imagine those results would be even more exaggerated. Even though the Macro Converter was specifically designed for the HC 50-II, I would argue it is fantastic with all lenses in the 24 to 100mm range. One caveat is that you can only shoot macro using this with a lens. You can't simply focus closer and also go to infinity. It shifts the focal range. Not a big deal, you just can't leave it on permanently and expect to get the entire focusing range. There is no light loss whatsoever. Highly recommended!
