    Profoto 254709 reviews

    RFi 1.0 x 4.0' Softbox is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from the Light is amazing. but quality poor First of all, I want to be say that it produce great quality light! I only gave 2 stars because I found it really easy to break during disassembly. I brought three of these softboxes to a on location photoshoot on March 9th 2015 where one of the three suffered a 2 tear near one of the velcro attachments at the end of the shoot. The whole structure was completely compromised. I knew that it won't be useful anymore. I contacted the Profoto service centre in NJ and sent it to them in the hope of getting a replacement unit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very difficult to disassemble Great construction and quality, as you would expect from Profoto. As other reviewers have pointed out, disassembly is not really recommended (and is extremely difficult). You really have to man-handle the rods/box to be able to get the rods loose from the speed ring because it's so tight (and it really does feel like it will break if you do this). The Elinchrom rotalux boxes are way more convenient for location work. These strips are best if you leave them setup permanently.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent quality light output I have used this in portrait photography indoors and will use outdoors as conditions allow. In the short time I have had the product, it produces great light independently, or with complementary light/modifiers. I use the 1x4 with the 3x4. Great combination in clamshell or in key/fill setup. The fabric composition is much higher grade than other products. It is sufficiently lightweight, but durable. It is also very logical to assemble.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best stripbox i've owned I love profoto softboxes. This is my favorite strip box on the market This is a nice mid size. The build quality is top level. The light created with this modifier (even by a speedlite) is absolutely incredible - totally worth the extra money over say an apollo softbox I use this strip for studio product photo and portraiture.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disassembly not recommended This is not a fair assessment because I have owned only three brands of softboxes. Amazing fabric build, needs a few more loops to hold bars because I don't like to remove for disassembly. However this is a special shape, so this is reasonable. The rods don't like a little force to hear the cracking noise but I know that disassembly will not be part of my process, which is normal. I love my calumets design but these have better fabric. The cost is competitive! So I am going to replace my modifiers as they wear. Thank you profoto for delivering a competitive product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for a second light As a wedding and portrait photographer most of my work is done on location with natural light as the backup. Natural light of course fails when the sun's going down, the pictures get done indoors, etc. The shadows on the dark side can be lit with a reflector, but it never seems to work quite as well as it should. The dark in the shadows becomes a little contrasty and doesn't allow the subject to glow. So I had the idea to get a second B1 and a strip box with the 50 degree grid to help with the shadow and create the glow feel to the subject. What can I say? It works just like I imagined. Now I'm wondering if it could be flipped horizontally with the grid for small group shots and hit mostly the faces with the bodies going slowly into shadow. The four foot box works fine. The six footer seems like it would get a little bulky and difficult to work with in confined spaces. One thing: you have to take the rods out to put it away properly. I would love to just be able to fold it up with rods inside and make the operation quicker, but it's not happening. I've just been leaving the rods in and throwing it into the back of the truck with the speed ring still attached to make things go faster. Now to put it to work more, especially when the high schoolers I use as assistants aren't getting into trouble with their parents and don't show up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Profoto Makes Your Work Standout! I use strip boxes to add highlights and accents as rim lights for my clients. Profoto always makes the highest quality modifiers which I rely on in my work. The 4ft vs 3ft gives me more coverage for 3/4 shots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great light, even across the whole strip This softbox produces beautiful even light across the whole strip. I have used strips before with my speed lights and stepping up to this with a b1 was a game changer! Working to get another one soon!
