    Profoto 100501 reviews

RFi Speed Ring for Profoto Flash Heads is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 55.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Overpriced, but essential This does exactly what it's meant to, and it does it perfectly. It's a very comfortable light modification system and is practically bomb-proof. The mediocre review stems from the cost. Now granted, I made this purchase on the corporate dime. But the fact that I just spent $15K on lights and another $2K on Profoto Heat Resistant Modifiers, I would've thought something simple like this might've been included somewhere along the way. I love the superior products that Profoto gives us, but the overriding brand experience has been the nickel-&-diming sales strategy they seem to favor.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It works I decided to start with the best. However, it would have been nice if the soft boxes came with, or had an option of speedrings (considering the price). I found out the hard way that I had more to invest and therefore I've rated this product low. Based mostly on price. This product is fairly easy to install (I'm a novice and figured it out). The fit is a compression fit, which makes my bigger soft boxes a bit of a challenge to balance while placing on a light on a tripod. Once or twice I've gotten my arm and hand into a bit of a predicament. Overall I'm glad it is a good snug fit and the latch further secures it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A truly speedy Speedring This Profoto Speedring attaches Profoto modifers like softboxes and beauty dishes to your B1 or D1 flash. You'll need one of these Speedrings for each B1 or D1 flash that you modify with anything more sophisticated than an umbrella. Do not buy this Speedring if you have a different brand of flash than Profoto. The attachment is a friction fit that's tightened by snapping a latch. It works well and the attached modifier is secure. Also unique to the Profoto system is the color-coding to help you recognize which holes receive the rods from your modifier. For example, there are four red holes for use with Profoto rectangular soft boxes, which have red-tipped rods. Similarly, there are eight green holes for use with a Profoto octabox, which has green-tipped rods. Given that different modifiers have different rods for mounting, this system is simple but quite helpful on location. I was disappointed in the Speedring finish. Several of the wires in the Speedring's latching belt had been trimmed off sloppily, leaving sharp edges that can tear skin.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from works but Im not sure but I have this speeding but it's not exactly speedy. I use it with my 4 refi and it's hard really hard to get off and on. I travel a lot so I have to break it down and it's very difficult to get the rods out of the speedring holes. If it's a speedring I think it's miss labeled it is a ring but it's not speedy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superior Speedring This speeding is superior to the older versions without the color code. Like Profoto Speedrings before it, the build quality is very high. It fits snugly onto a head without play. Even very large modifiers like a 5-foot octabox have no trouble securing to this ring and mounting to a head. The color code makes mounting easier than the label system I've used before. Plus, I personally think the black rim instead of the silver rim looks better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Essential tool for softboxes Great quality, never fails. You need one if you want to use a softbox. I have one for each one of my RFi softboxes and it's alway on. I don't like to fold and storage my softboxes, I don't like to take apart the speedring, I always have them ready to use in my studio. The ring rotates as you need and it has color marks to guide you. I know they are expensive, but I recommend to buy one for each one of your softboxes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Necessary, but costly Got a brand new RFi softbox and want to actually be able to use it on your Profoto head? Well, you're gonna have to shell out some more cash, because of course it's not included with the softbox. Why? Because Profoto, that's why. Built sturdy and fits with nearly all Profoto modifiers. Sometimes the locking mechanism gets a bit askew, but that's a minor issue and can be easily remedied on the fly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great design if you softboxes are all proFoto! So our school has shifted to pro foto kits! D1& B1s & older power pack kit!all of which we love . In fortunaly all our softboxes are chimera , photoflex & some for Speedotron our old system. So the rings are beautiful but the rods don't fit the holes ! Are thes just for proFoto brand if so why is that not clearly indicated in description ? One assumes they are universal but one is wrong too!
