Nicely machined Arca compatible camera plate. One star off because I do not understand why a machined metal part with a screw is so expensive...

Good for many things

I wanted a universal plate to use for mounting things like flash and other lighting, and rarely-used cameras onto my Arca-compatible QR clamps. This plate is simple and does the job well. I'm using it with a homemade pano head, a Canon 5580EX-II, Canon 1D Mark IV (rarely), and other gear and am very satisfied.

quality product, but disappointed

I bought this plate to use along with two other Kirk plates I already own and use with an Arca-Swiss style Markins lever-release head. While it seems to be of the same quality materials and construction of my other Kirk plates, unfortunately after getting home I found that this UP-2 plate does not fit the QR mechanism as well as my other two plates. While my other two plates fit identically & precisely, this UP-2 seems machined to a different tolerance - specifically it's too loose without adjusting the clamping distance of the ballhead's QR lever (requires screwdriver). This defeats the purpose of sticking with a single manufacturer's lens plates and makes swapping UP-2 mounted lenses and my other lens & camera on my tripod a chore. Very disappointed to find this Kirk plate is not manufactured to the tolerances I expect of their products.

I keep one of these on my larger lenses. It makes setup so much simpler. Works great with my Kirk BH-3 Ball Head.

This plate is a perfect fit on a Vortex Razor HD 16-48x65 mounted on a Markins ball head.
