Canon 9000F Mark II overview

  • 1Description

The CanoScan 9000F Mark II Film & Document Scanner from Canon features a 12-line color CCD sensor that scans not just documents and photos but also 35mm negatives and slides as well as medium format film. The scanner captures film & negatives at a high 9600dpi optical and captures photos and documents at up to 4800dpi optical. Easily digitize your negatives and slides so they can be viewed, edited, and shared on the computer. The 48-bit internal color depth provides accurate color rendition. The included film holders and guides ensure you get accurate scans the first time and eliminate the guesswork of film scanning.

The FARE Level 3 retouching removes dust and scratches and restores color to faded photos. Additionally, the scanner features built-in gutter shadow correction. When scanning pages from a book, the 9000F Mark II automatically corrects for shadows that typically appear near a book's spine when scanning so you get an accurate scan the first time.

After you finish scanning a document, you can use the included OCR (optical character recognition) software to convert the image into editable text. The included software also provides the ability to save scans as PDF files for easy document archiving and sharing. Have a specific type of scan you perform often? You can program the scanner's 1-touch EZ Buttons to automate specific scans for a smoother workflow.

Also included is My Image Garden software, which makes the organization and printing of your photos both easy and fun with helpful and creative features.

    Canon 9000F Mark II reviews

CanoScan 9000F Mark II Film & Document Scanner is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 219.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for dredging up old family memories! I bought this scanner this summer and originally wasn't using it much. We'd just received about 6 boxes full of old slides and negatives and I had the best intentions but not clear timeline. Fast forward to the last week and now we are moving and I have no intention of taking those boxes with me. Now I'm powering through and I'm so impressed with this scanner. The picture quality is plenty good enough for what we want (to access and share all these long forgotten pictures) and the scanner itself is very intuitive. I love that the plastic attachments make each slide scan in as an individual picture in the desired orientation. So far I'm happy scanning slides, film, and printed pictures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very satisfied with this purchase. Using the Canon CanoScan 9000F Mark II for 35 mm slides from the late 1950 fifty. And it is doing an excellent job. Before purchasing this scanner, I read all reviews, and was hesitant to buy this. Because some of the reviews said that if didn't do a very good job on 35 mm slides, I considered other brands such as Epson perfection V 600 photo scanner, and I am glad that I bought this. Also using the copy feature, once you set up your printer, you just press copy, and the printer will print it out automatically.Canon my image garden software, it's a so-so software, I do use a couple programs, it's up to you if you install it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Way better than my last scanner I used to own three other scanners by another company and this scanner is by far the best of all. In fact I used to used this other companies products exclusively but when I tried to get product support they wouldn't help me. I now have Canon printers and scanner and found that they are the more superior every facet of the game. This scanner takes about 1/10th the time to scan a document or image and with the use of the image garden makes scanning a joy. I now use Canon products exclusively. Everything about the scanner and printers makes using a computer much more exciting and fun. Thank you Canon.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value, more than satisfied I purchased this to scan old family slide and negatives. After over 2,000 scans and post processing, I would say it is the best money I have spent on such technology in the past year. As with any new piece of hardware and software it takes a bit of trial and error to get the end product one desires. In my case this was about 3 to 4 hours. I ended up using the ScanGear settings for all of the negatives and slides. The fade correction and backlit correction produced awesome results, better than expected. Takes 20-25 minutes to scan a fully loaded 35mm tray with color negatives. I could not find a way to use the flexibility of ScanGear with documents or hardcopy photos, the only reason I would not give it 5 stars. Great piece of technology!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! (My Canon 9000F Scanner, that is) I have been immensely pleased with this scanner. I got it primarily for scanning 35mm negatives and slides and the performance has been outstanding. I normally scan negatives at 2400 dpi even thought higher resolutions are available. I have been also scanning photos and the ability to scan up to 3 photos at once directly into Photoshop CS2 has proved to be very quick and and has also given me great results at 600 dpi. My only complaint has been the inability to scan 110 film negatives or any kind of 8mm/16mm frames even though the resolutions afforded would be adequate for most purposes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect scanner This scanner does the job. It was just plug and play from the box into my MacBook Pro. I have Image Capture and Photoshop Cloud, so the software is not an issue for me. It gives you a variety of dpi scanning options. I am only mainly scanning and archiving old photos as of now, but the goal is to do my b&w and color negatives and slides. So far, no issues. Depending on the resolution is how long scanning takes, and it gives you JPEG, TIFF, etc. formats, so, yes, plenty of options to suit your needs. I thought about Canon vs Epson, but I'm glad I went with the Canon. Sharp, quick results, looks very sleek and professional and very easy to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from CanoScan 9000F I do not own any other scanners, so I cannot compare to other brands, but this scanner is great! I have many older slides and pictures that I am in the process of converting to digital. So far, the results have been excellent. Some of my older pictures were faded, and not only did the scanner make them sharper, but clearer, so now I can see items in the picture that I had not noticed before. It is great! I am very satisfied with the scanner. I tested with pictures, slides, and negatives, and all the results were very good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Highest Resolution only on slides! This is a nice scanner, but the max dpi (9600) is available only on in the center of the screen, where the slides are scanned. If you are scanning photos it is considerably less (600) unless you dig in to the software and make adjustments. This is not easy to figure out. We almost returned it, but found a workaround by downloading a 3rd party software that allows full resolution control, which boosted our res to 2400. So, the scanner has the capability to do more than it's software allows on initial set up and you better be a good tech if you want to boost it higher.
