The Battery Grip for Lumix GH3 and GH4 Digital Cameras from Panasonic is designed for the Panasonic GH3 and GH4 digital mirrorless camera and accepts one Lithium-Ion battery in addition to the battery in the camera body. With two batteries installed, your shooting time is effectively doubled.

The design of a battery grip offers a comfortable and secure way in which to hold your camera, especially in the vertical position. This battery grip features an alternate shutter release button and additional control buttons and command dials to facilitate shooting when the camera is held in the portrait orientation. In addition, it is designed with anti-slip rubber grip to further improve handling, a tripod socket to mount your camera directly to a tripod and a holder for the camera's contact cover so as not to lose it when the battery grip is installed. The grip is weather-sealed to match the durability of the GH3 and GH4.

Compatible with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH3 and DMC-GH4 Digital Cameras
Provides comfortable and secure handling when shooting in the vertical position, including a secondary shutter release button, exposure, white balance and ISO buttons and command dials.

Battery Grip for Lumix GH3 and GH4 Digital Cameras is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Completes the GH4 but not perfect I love having a grip on DSLRs because they balance out the camera when you have a big heavy lens mounted on it. Easier to hold and you have room for a spare battery for longer-lasting shooting. This grip is not perfect, though. I wish they made an updated version for the GH4. First, the mounting hole on the bottom is still off-center and does not line up with the lens. What's the deal with that? I know you can buy a third party accessory plate that centers that hole but for a $* grip, it should already be perfect. Second, I wish the grip carried the 2 batteries so I don't have to remove the grip in order to remove the one battery inside of the camera!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must have GH3 Accessory This is a must have accessory for the Lumix GH3. With the additional battery it doubles the power capacity for the camera. The grip also adds an addtional 1/3 to the body of the camera giving the user a more substantial hold. The camera allows you to choose which battery it will discharge first and I selected BG for battery grip, due to the accessibility of the battery. The only downside to the Battery Grip is that you have to remove it to access the in camera battery. Not a big deal given that with the two batteries you should be able to shoot quite a while without having to re-charge.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Decent, but flawed The battery grip improves GH3 handling quite a bit, not only in portrait orientation (as expected), but also in operating the camera horizontally (the extra height gives something bigger to hold on and a place to rest your pinky). The grip also doubles battery life (nice, though even one GH3 battery is quite capable for a day of shooting) and makes using the GH3 with a hand strap much nicer. Having said that, I use my GH3 a lot for video and this battery grip has two main flaws in that regard. One, it offsets the tripod plate significantly, which makes use of the GH3 (w/ battery grip) on a shoulder rig problematic. The offset tripod plate also makes panning funky on tripods. Two, when you swap out the grip battery while recording video, the recording stops. That is: recording long videos by continuously swapping out batteries in the grip (and having the GH3 switch to the internal battery) is not possible. A bummer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Accessory for a Great Camera The GH-3 is already a very ergonomic camera and if you are doing lots of vertical composition especially for studio needs this grip is great. Even for every day needs its a nice addition. Keep in mind the camera bag configuration will change if you use the grip. You also have the added benefit of a longer battery life. If you do video you do not need this grip since video is not done in the vertical format 99% of the time. If you use a flash bracket this is a very nice addition as well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad product! I am a huge fan of panasonic products but this is one of their worst to date. I see a lot of good reviews so I'm bummed that I had a bad experience with these battery grips. I purchased 2 of these for my 2 GH4's. They were purchase about 4 months apart from each other and with under a year, they both broke. Be careful with these. I had multiple instances where I was recording and the battery grip failed on me during a wedding. My camera shut off losing the 3-5 minutes of one particular clip. It turned my clip into an MTS file which I'm sure I could recover with the right (expensive ) software. The battery are very impressive and will last you most of a days work without the grip!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Adds nice functionality and ergonomics I love the GH4 for its lightweight, small body. That said, I still do like a somewhat larger camera in my hands, especially after years of larger DLSR bodies with battery grips. This grip adds the usual portrait-oriented controls and just enough additional size to make the GH4 very comfortable in the hand and a bit better balanced. I also love that the batteries can be prioritized between grip and body allowing you to drain the grip battery first and swap it out without interrupting video recording. Possibly irksome for some is the fact that, due to space constraints, the tripod screw is off-center from the lens. Fortunately, since the grip can be removed with a few turns of its screw/wheel, you can pop the camera off and onto a tripod mount (lens-centered) quickly. This is also good since I keep a BlackRapid strap screwed into the grip's socket. Rather than unscrew the strap's connector to tripod mount the camera, I simply remove the entire grip and put the bare GH4 on the tripod head.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job Pretty much bought this to make my gh4 look bulkier for photo shoots with clients. Decent quality

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Added battery power with great form factor The battery grip for the Lumix G3 and G4 accommodates an additional battery, with solid form factor. Shutter button placement allows for handling camera for great vertical shorts. Function dials and most commonly used buttons included on the battery grip. There is an on/off switch, but no indicator light. It's easy to forget to turn on the grip. When fully attached with 1/4 screw, there is still a bit of play between camera body and grip.
