A B&H Kit, the 16TB G-SPEED eS PRO 4-Bay RAID Array Kit w/ a PCIe RAID Adapter is a cost-effective, high-speed, high-storage solution for high-end video post-production. A bit faster than the G-SPEED eS, this compact and whisper-quiet G-SPEED eS Pro sports a blazing 12Gbit mini-SAS interface that is great for transmitting the huge amounts of data demanded by video files. The G-SPEED Hard Drive Array includes four 4TB drives. One terabyte of memory holds up to 84 hours of HDV 1080i, 17 hours of DVCPRO HD 1080/60i, 13 Hours of 8 bit SD, 10 hours of ProRes 422HQ, 10 hours of 10 bit SD, and 2.25 hours of HD 1080/60i.

Included with the enclosure is ATTO Technology's ExpressSAS R680 Low-Profile SAS RAID PCI Express Adapter, an essential component for getting the most from your G-SPEED eS PRO. With it, you will have a wide variety of RAID options. The controller allows you to configure your G-SPEED eS Pro as a RAID 0, 1, 3, 5, 6, 10, 40, 50, 60 and DVRAID, an advanced RAID level for digital video environments. As such, you have wide flexibility in choosing the right configuration for your work, whether you need more storage, extra reliability, simultaneous access to video files, or some ratio between the three.

With the controller, you can set up your RAID configurations and monitor your system via an easy-to-use, web-based graphic user interface. Accessed via any Internet browser on your computer, this simple GUI can easily keep track of your RAID's performance.

Along with this safety mechanism, the G-SPEED eS PRO features locks for each drive, a sturdy aluminum casing, and two internal fans for preventing the hard drives from overheating. In addition, the G-SPEED itself will sound audible alarms in case a disk fails, the internal temperature nears 140°F, a fan stops, a fan spins too slowly to cool the system, or when the enclosure is improperly disconnected from the G-Tech RAID controller.

    Designed with an industrial compact all-aluminum enclosure, the G-SPEED eS PRO 16TB (4 x 4TB) 4-Bay Mini-SAS Array from G-Technology is a RAID array that has been specifically designed for professional content creation applications. When used with an ATTO R680 PCIe RAID controller, it is able to support multi-stream SD, ProRes 422, uncompressed HD, and 2K DPX workflows, including real-time playback of 10-bit uncompressed 1080/60i at over 400 MB/s. The G-SPEED es PRO is able to support RAID 0, 1, 5, and 6, each of which provides performance, redundancy, or a combination of both. For those who do not need a RAID, this array may also be configured as a JBOD. When configured as a RAID 5, two G-SPEED eS PRO units are able to support two simultaneous streams of uncompressed 10-bit HD or a single 2K DPX sequence at up to 1,200 MB/s. Nominally, this array is able to support transfer rates of up to 640 MB/s.

    The G-SPEED eS PRO is configured with 4 x 4TB 7200 rpm 3.5" SATA II 3 Gb/s Enterprise-class hard drives, each of which has a cache of up to 64MB. Each drive is also hot-swappable, meaning that it can be removed from the enclosure and replaced, all without needing to shut down your system, which connects to this array using a 12 Gb/s Mini-SAS interface.

    While the G-SPEED eS PRO comes pre-formatted as HFS+ for Mac OS 10.6 or higher, it is also compatible with 64-bit versions of Windows 8, 7, Vista, and XP via a reformat. In addition to the ATTO R680, it is also compatible with the HighPoint RocketRAID 4522 RAID Controller. Included are four removable disk modules, a universal AC power supply, and a 6.6' / 2.0m Mini-SAS cable. It is protected by a limited 3-year warranty.

    ATTO's exclusive Advanced Data Streaming (ADS) is a proprietary technology that is built into all the product, designed to manage latency in high-bandwidth work environments.     DriveAssure Technology

    Drive Management Technology
    Drive assessment and latency management technology is built into ATTO RAID adapters and storage controllers. DriveAssure™ provides bounded latency through proprietary algorithms and user controls to prevent premature drive failures and slow downs, ensuring uninterrupted access to data. Through periodic drive scans, DriveAssure searches for bad sectors or slow spots and repairs them without failing the drive, preventing the loss of critical assets.
    Guaranteed Latency
    A slow drive in a storage array can lead to delays which increase real or perceived response time beyond what is desired. These delays can lead to unwanted behavior such as dropped video frames. DriveAssure compensates for situations when a drive in a RAID Group does not respond within a specified period of time to keep data moving smoothly within a guaranteed latency response time.
    Data Recovery Mode
    If all attempts at preventing a RAID Group from going offline have failed, Data Recovery Mode attempts to access data in an offline RAID Group. There are several methods available to access drives including forcing a rebuild to continue so data can be copied to a new RAID Group.
