Rated 3 out of 5 by from Vello WBCards I bought this product for my photography class and also to use in the field (never knew I needed it till the class). The photo dept at school has a kodak 8.5x11 gray card that we could rent out but I wanted a smaller one that I can carry around in my camera bag. The size of this is great and it works but I have a few issues with this product. The item is supposed to be 18% gray (18% gray is different than digital gray) When I compare it to the 18% Kodak card from school, the color is a little lighter than 18%. However it is darker than a digital gray card. For all intents and purposes, this will still work for most photographers during color correction and post production as well as metering using this card because it will bring it close to the right exposure but it really isnt 18%. I would have also preferred if the finish was matted. The gloss throws in some reflections of light which I have to be careful with when I am metering or setting up my shots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as advertised I use this the Vello white balance card in pretty much all of my architectural interiors shots, as well as for portraiture work. After all my lights are properly positioned and adjusted, I shoot a frame with the three cards fanned out so that I can later use them to accurately set the white balance of the scene during post processing (Either in Lightroom or Photoshop). I repeat this process every time I change my lighting, just to keep updated references. The white balance readings provided by this card are accurate with respect to real colors. Can't go wrong with this basic piece of equipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great White Balance Solution for use in Lightroom I take one shot with the cards unfolded with the subject holding them. Then in Lightroom I use the dropper tool to determine white balance by dropping it on the gray card in the image. Then I select all other similarly lighted images and SYNC the white balance setting. Great! Also, the cards are just-the-right-size for the images and they fit in my camera bag or around my neck. I almost bought the smaller cards (2 inch by 3 inch) but they would have been too small in the images. I am very pleased with this product. Easy to use and accurate white balance in Lightroom.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Improve Your Skin Tones Recently purchased this set and find it has made my life easier. I mostly shoot people, primarily under natural light. The grey card is great for getting an exact exposure to avoid burnt out highlights in a high contrast situation, and the white card for getting the correct white balance when the camera presets are not exactly right for your shooting situation. Comes with instructions for using all three cards at once in a single shot for people who shoot in raw and want to use Photoshop to mark white, black and mid-tones exactly in their image. The cards are very durable and small enough to fit in a small ziplock to keep them clean and to fit in your back pocket when you are finished using them. They are large enough that you can fill the frame on your camera with them to get a good reading. Just don't throw a shadow on them when you do it. The lanyard keeps them together and can be used for ready access to the cards. I use the lanyard to remember the cards are in my back pocket so they don't get thrown in the wash. Simple and easy way to get the shot correctly exposed with the correct white balance. You can do all that in Photoshop but why not get it right to start with. It could save you a lot of work.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Questionable accuracy As convenient as this set is, I was less than impressed with my results using it for both video, and DSLR stills. After comparing to some of my other white/grey cards, I am definitely not convinced these cards are at all accurately color neutral. It's grey/white-ish, and somewhat useful, but I honestly got better results with a white piece of paper. It's cheap for a reason. Also, these cards have a fairly glossy coating, so you have to be careful with reflections/glare.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from it solved my problem I'm a semi-pro and for the last 2 years have been shooting indoor sports events in a HS gym. The variety of ceiling lights made it very hard to get correct WB by just eye-balling it. I bought the Vello card set and used it to achieve the correct WB in no time. excellent product. should have bought it years ago.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed :-( I agree, it has nice look and feel. Pocket size is perfect too. But what I do not like about this product is: it is glossy and 'plastic-like' surface. Because of this, you get a lot of reflected light and that's good enough to give incorrect white balance reading. Additionally, my EOS60D find it hard to find a perfect focus on this card (may be because of the glossy surface). I regret that I bought this product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a bad product but difficult to use The cards unfortunately have a glossy finish, which makes getting an accurate whirte balance difficult in some lighting situations. My next white balance card will be larger, and definitely not glossy
