JBL AWC82 Overview

The gray JBL AWC82 is a single all-weather passive coaxial loudspeaker designed for high-output, full-range sound reinforcement in various indoor and outdoor applications such as sports facilities, stadiums, fairgrounds, cruise ships, and background music/paging systems.

Capable of up to 250W long-term power handling, it incorporates an 8" Kevlar-reinforced woofer and a 1" fluid-cooled high-frequency driver to produce a high maximum peak SPL of 124 dB and a wide frequency response of 80 Hz to 20 kHz (-10 dB). The coaxial speaker configuration yields a 120 by 120° dispersion pattern for consistent coverage.

The paintable ABS enclosure boasts an IP56 rating for effective weather resistance and a sturdy steel grille backed with open-cell foam for additional protection. An integrated multi-tap transformer—configurable via a rear-panel tap selector—allows operation in 70/100V systems or 8-ohm low-impedance setups. A color-matched U-bracket is included for ease of installation.

I purchased a pair of these speakers believe it or not, for my patio. They are resident in shrub beds that sit about 4 feet above the patio. After DJing in nightclubs for many years, I wanted the feel of an outdoor nightclub Patio. If you want the same feeling, you MUST pair these with a SB2210 subwoofer. They do not hit below 80HZ. They are simply designed to get low end support from something else. If you pair these the right way, you can throw a ton of midrange at them at high volumes and achieve quite a bit. I am definitely a different use case, but combined with the all-weather design, this is quite simply the way to step-up your outdoor party. I built custom stands and placed them behind bushes...and better yet, I vinyl wrapped them with camo. They are getting 150RMS each from bridged channels on my Russound AMP. The SBB210 sub is getting dedicated power from a large Dayton Audio AMP. The combination is awesome.

Great Sound

This speaker has great sound, is sturdy, and looks nice. It lost a star because of it's coverage pattern. 120x120 is way too wide to offer any kind of pattern control outdoors - especially if there is any throw distance. I wish JBL would make this in a 90x90.
