A 5x optical zoom lens provides the 35mm equivalent focal range of 28-140mm, which runs from true wide-angle to telephoto. The Extra Optical Zoom function provides an additional 5.9x zoom range for ultra-telephoto shooting when needed. 720p HD video is also supported by the F5 and a dedicated one-touch button switches you from photo to video mode in an instant, without need to enter the menu and change settings.

Auto Scene Selector is a great feature in which the camera senses the scene you are shooting and applies one of six predefined shooting modes to capture the ideal photo of your scene. The F5 shoots in 4 distinct aspect ratios, 4:3, 3:2, 16:9 and square-shaped 1:1 to give you high resolution options on what shape your image should take. And Panorama Shot Mode extends that even farther to offer horizontal and vertical panorama imaging.

A 2.7" TFT LCD screen provides composition and playback viewing and a built-in flash offers 5 flash modes including red-eye reduction. In addition to SD, SDHC, SDXC memory card compatibility, the F5 has 10MB of internal memory in case your card fills up before you can transfer your images. The camera is capable of charging its Lithium-Ion battery with an AC adapter and also via the USB input when connected to a computer or other device.
