Lastolite LL LU4538F overview

  • 1Description

The Lastolite 8-in-1 Umbrella is a unique 41" diameter accessory that allows you to bounce your light source in the traditional way with the black backing on or use it like a softbox by pumping the light through it with the backing off. But that's just the beginning.

The flip side of the backing is reflective silver. Remove the white interior for maximum output or long throw applications. An included diffuser can be stretched over the open umbrella for an even stronger softbox look. Finally, an additional black backing features a section held on by touch-fasteners that when removed, reveals a square-masked section of the umbrella which creates ideal catchlights for products and reflective objects. The 8-in-1 Umbrella can be used with studio or portable flash heads and with shoe-mount flashes with the appropriate adapter.

    8-in-1 Umbrella (41") is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great light modifier for a small price This is a great light modifier for outdoor portraits. It will do most everything one needs and is compact enough to take with you just about anywhere. And, it works great!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Like having options, this offers it Works great indoors. I use with a multi flash bracket with 2 Nikon flashes and it modifies this light very nicely using the reflector, diffusor or any of the cool combinations that are possible with this setup. Very flexible. The umbrella build also seems sturdy. It is my first umbrella and it seems that it should last a while.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Clarification It's not 41, but almost 38, however, after reading the complaints about the aluminum ribs, I've noted they've switched to fiberglass - good move. Still a good value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Engineering Functionality, But A Bit Fidgety Have built but not yet tested each of the 8 possible configurations. Excellent results so far using the two variations shown in the product picture. Seems to be built of good materials. By Fidgety, I mean that it takes a little time to reconfigure the thing when changing the umbrella backing. Suggest that you build the version you need before heading out to a location. Nicely compact for all the different configurations it can provide.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from get a bunch of these was confounded on what modifier to get, felt a little uneasy with the jack of all trades master of none type of tool this is but that fear quickly melted away after using the umbrella. let me say this, it has everything you need to get up and running for a long time and is your daily go to tool. the frame is fiberglass and durable, the shaft is extra thick and resistant to crush when mounting. people always talk about the quality of light from a modifier, this umbrella has a shoot thru silk and bounce silk, so its soft nuff said. i plan on getting more of these. is this the one modifier to rule them all? no the usefulness of this warrants the price and getting other ones to use and will carry you all the way until you plan to do special setups, ie. striplights, grid attachments, 7ft light sources. again this will be your bread and butter till your special setups. there is one short coming you should be aware of, when using the backing either black with silver, or the front face silk, there is limit to how far you can place your speed light away from the umbrella and will limit your lights ability to fully fill the umbrella. this is easily over come with a triflash allowing your lights to cover more of the modifiers surface area. umbrellas and wind, everyone harps on umbrellas and wind. this is fine in the wind if your not a complete rere, even softboxes get blown over just as easy with out proper mounting and securing your gear. get sand bags, use tent spikes and also use your brain and adjust your plan for the direction of the wind. 10\10 best game ever. ign.
