Product Highlights

  • Converts a TOSLINK Input into 3 Inputs
  • Connects 3 Devices to 1 Speaker System
  • Compatible with 2-Channel TOSLINK
  • 1Description

The C2G TOSLINK Digital Audio Selector Switch converts any 2-channel TOSLINK optical input into three inputs, enabling you to connect, for example, a DVD player, a Blu-ray player, and a game console into one speaker system receiver. The Switch features one 2-channel TOSLINK output for connection into a speaker system or other system, and three 2-channel TOSLINK inputs for connecting DVD players and other devices.

The Switch is not compatible with ADAT TOSLINK inputs because they are 8-channel inputs. ADAT and 2-channel TOSLINK connectors look exactly the same, but ADAT TOSLINKs say "ADAT" next to them, so you'll be able to tell the difference.

TOSLINK Digital Audio Selector Switch is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job Routing three sources to a single DAC. Dial has a push-to-unlock button. A green indicator appears in the window above the selected port, plus direction of dial aligns with selected port. A little chaotic looking sitting on shelf with optical cables plugged into the front, but an acceptable trade-off for being able to see the green indicator and for the clean unpowered pass-through. Its rubber feet do a good job of holding it in place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as advertised Works well. Connected my two components (CD and TV Audio) to the single optical input on Denon receiver. Simple to set up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good design features: One suggestion REVIEW: Recommended product, that could be improved by having attached dust cover doors on the three input terminals and one output terminal. Serves my amateur needs very well. After repeated failure to find a Toslink source-selection-device from multiple AV retailers, I described my objective to a B&N tech rep, who within a minute identified the C2G. WELCOME DESIGN FEATURES: The Toslink I/O terminals will accept a Toslink cable in either of two positions, thus minimizing the need to twist an optical cable if there were only single-orientation Toslink I/O terminals distributed on the periphery of a circle. Intuitive usage; with color indicator of selected input.MY USAGEMy multi-speaker (Dolby) audio system (the Dolby amp) has only one Toslink input, previously connecting the audio DVD output to Dolby amp. Upon acquisition of an HDTV, I wanted to ALSO route Dolby audio from my ISP's HD movie library to the Dolby amp. After repeated failure to find a Toslink source-selection-device from multiple AV retailers, I described my objective to a B&N tech rep, who within a minute identified the C2G. With installation of the C2G, my multi-choice family members may readily route the HDTV's audio signal to either the Dolby amp, OR simply use the HDMI interface to watch a news/sports program little or no quality musical content with audio from the HDTV's nominally satisfactory stereo speakers, thus avoiding the need to also operate the amp. I was pleased to learn that the Toslink-out terminal from my HDTV cable box, allows diversion of the Dolby audio encoded in an HD movie (from my ISP's library) from the (a) HDTV via the HDMI input, (b) directly to the Dolby amp, thus substantially improving the pleasure of watching/listening to my ISP's library of HD movies that also have Dolby audio. SUGGESTION FOR IMPROVEMENT - DUST-PROTECTION FOR TERMINALSThe recommended cables each have an attached optical interface protector that is tethered to the cable to prevent loss. Conversely, many/some Toslink I/O terminals have an attached door that closes when a Toslink cable is not inserted. HOWEVER, none of the four input terminals for the C2G selector switch have a protective door. I have one vacant input, and will devise a dust-protective cover -- any suggestions?
