The black Optical to S/PDIF Coaxial Digital Audio Converter from C2G connects the TOSLINK optical output from your DVD player, cable, or satellite receiver to a S/PDIF coaxial digital audio input. It can be used to change the media format for older receivers, DVD players, and other devices to get full-digital signal and sound quality, thereby eliminating the need to purchase a new receiver. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect... Problem- stereo receiver has only one optical input and is currently connected to my CD player. My new Samsung LED TV has only one audio-out which is also optical. Can't connect TV to receiver. Solution- Connected the optical cable from TV to the Coaxial Digital Audio Converter and used a coaxial digital audio cable (RCA) to connect to a vacant coaxial input on my receiver. Works Perfect.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Gets out of sync I have a new TV which only has an optical output and a sound system that has a coaxial input. It works for awhile, but after a couple of hours the sounds are slightly off from what I am seeing on the screen. Mouths move and then a second later you hear the words. I haven't used other types of these so I have nothing to compare it to. It works, but in order to use it for a couple of hours or more, you must reset it by unplugging it and plugging it back in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Didn't have to buy a new receiver My new TV only have an optical out and my Bose only had a digital in. This saved me from having to buy a new receiver for my surround sound.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fills a need Used it to transfer Audio 30ft or so from TV Audio to Audio Receiver. Most TV's only have Toslink outputs. I used this device at the TV to convert to coax for the long run to the Audio receiver. At the receiver end I had a Coax to Toslink converter to supply Toslink to the Audio reveiver.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Saved me from buying a new receiver! This saved me the cost of a new receiver minus the minimal cost of the device. Easy to use, just plug in the optical from the transmitting device (Plasma TV in my case), plug in coax from the device to the Coax Digital input on the receiver, plug into AC power, and everything works. Perfect. I don't think about it at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Bose Products Great for Bose products, or other devices, with only one TOSlink connection. I have 3 of these adapters on various bose 321 and lifestyle systems. The fidelity is flawless.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Converter, converting. As in the glory days of Age of Empires, this little brick is the veritable priest of audio conversions.I used this to convert an optical signal from my television to a digital coax connection for an old receiver. It worked without complication. It is small, so portability is not an issue. It feels a wee bit weak, but proper placement will safeguard from demise.
