    f.64 BPXG reviews

BPX Extra Large Backpack (Gray) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from BPX NOT SO extra Large Backpack. It will hold an 8x10 with no padding. The straps are of little comfort as is the waste band. It only hold to copal 3 lenses with boards. Very little space for anything else. The front pocket is at best not functional to hold anything securely. The two smaller pouches cannot hold but 4x5 holders if that... I use for light meter and other equipment necessary when shooting LARGE FORMAT. They should look at LowePro packs and rob a few ideas as to what a REAL LARGE FORMAT PACK IS! I have a wagon to carry this and tripod etc., as I wouldn't want to hike long with this pack design and the 8x10 camera I bought it for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent bag This bag from f64 is a game-changer for working solo in the field. Even though this is the “extra large,” I think it’s ideal for 4x5. 8x10 would be really tight and would only allow for a couple holders. In the main compartment alone, I was able to carry a Toyo 45AII / 90mm / 150mm / 210mm / Mamiya 7II / 80mm / Sekonic L308 + L758 / 4x loupe / dark cloth. It also accommodates up to four f64 holder bags (= 20 holders total) on the sides. The top compartment could then fit additional lenses, accessories, other supplies etc. I’m not a backpacker so I can’t compare this bag with traditional hiking gear but I was walking about 20km/day for a week with this bag and felt quite comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So comfortable and can fit anything A great back pack, perfect for my purposes. It doesn't have a padded laptop compartment which might be a deal breaker for you but there is a large compartment in front that you could put your laptop with neoprene sleeve in. I use it specifically for shooting music festivals where I have to keep everything from LED panel lights to filters with my camera and safe on my back. I use the top section for my interview mics and sound kit and the main compartment for my sony fs700, 24-70, 16-35 and 70-200 lenses. The side pouches are great for easy access to batteries and filters. A bag this big fully loaded is obviously ridiculously heavy but the weight distribution is great with the waist belt. The waist belt is also removable, but keep it on to save your back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Forget about your mule This backpack will replace your mule, turning you into one. Pros: - Here's what I can fit in the backpack (after reconfiguring the inside): 4x5 Chamonix camera; Mamiya RZ67 pro II; Pentax 645Z: Nikon D800E // 1 4x5 lens; 1 Mamiya RZ67 lens, Pentax 645 28-45mm; Zeiss Otus 85mm - No other bag I know will allow me to carry 4 systems (4x5, 67, medium format digital, and 35mm full frame) Cons: - The front pockets. Good god, what were they thinking? Two large pockets, no small pockets anywhere, no zippers for the large pockets. I had to buy a small case to hold my batteries, memory cards, business cards, etc., otherwise they would be flying all over. - I have no clue why the grey pack is $160 more expensive than the black one ... They are the same dimensions ... same everything except for colour. Despite the minor irritant that is the front pockets, I can't think of a better bag to carry all my gear. Reasonably priced (the black version) too considering all it can fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I can go just about anywhere now! This back pack allows me to walk out into some places where it would be impossible to go with a cart or wheels. The padding keeps the camera secure. The detachable side pouches are very handy. It is extremely ruggedly made. I am really glad I got this as it will be really useful for my 4x5 and 5x7 work. Thanks F64!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from F.64 Backpack This backpack is amazing! I use it to store/carry my 8X10 view camera and it safely fits that, along with all necessary accessories. Wonderful backpack, a must have for large format shooters!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Holds my stuff well I got this to carry my 4x5 kit after the foam in my 17-year-old LowePro AW Trekker recently started to disintegrate. I tried about 4 other packs, including the smaller f64 pack, until I decided that this one would work. The problem was my Lowe Pro was wider than the other packs I tried, and the newer packs seem narrower. I just couldn't arrange the dividers correctly in the other packs, especially if there were just tracks of the soft side of Velcro for the divider to attach to instead of having the whole interior lined with the soft side of the Velcro. The f64 pack isn't fully lined with the soft Velcor, but I got my camera, lenses, holders, and meters arranged so that they'll fit. I would give this pack 3.5 stars if that were an option because 1) it's not fully lined with the soft side of the Velcro for the dividers, 2) I don't think it will be as comfortable for long hikes as a Lowe Pro or Tamrac (and I used to do a lot of backpacking), and 3)I don't like that it has 2 compartments. I'd rather have to just open one compartment to get access to everything. Otherwise it seems well built and you can't beat the price.
