The Photogenic Ion Lithium-ion Pure Sine Wave Inverter System allows you to take your studio strobes on the road or off the road without electricity and without noisy generators or bulky old-style inverters. Weighing in at only 3.5 lb including its battery, the Ion measures only 7.5 x 4.4 x 3.3" but is able to deliver hundreds or even thousands of full power flashes depending on the flash head in use. For example, Photogenic's 1,000W/s PL1000DR gets 300 full power flashes on a fully charged battery while their AKC160 will get a whopping 2,050 flashes from the same battery. Of course, you can double or triple your capacity by simply purchasing extra batteries which can be charged apart from the inverter. Extra chargers are available to charge more than 1 battery concurrently.

Convenience features include a USB port to power computers and other electronic devices and an LED "fuel gauge" that allows you to check on remaining power at a glance. The system includes the ION Inverter, battery, charger, light stand clamp and strap.

Note: flash capacity specs are based on Photogenic flash heads but other brands of flash heads may be used with the inverter. Power input is 100 to 265VAC, 50/60Hz but output is 120V only.

Ion Lithium-ion Pure Sine Wave Inverter System is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect! This is exactly what I was looking for. It provides a fair amount of power via two, standard three-prong plugs that any US light could plug into, but at a reasonable price. On full power, my 500 WS Impact strobe got about 200 blasts, which was just enough to finish the set up. It takes a few hours to charge, so be sure to plug it in overnight before your shoot. Get it. It will give you a new ability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Photogenic ION Great for outdoor use with photogenic strobe light. portability. No need for electric power. Can not use modelling light.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I LOVE this thing! B&H made a great recommendation to me on this one! Here is a very reasonably priced portable AC power pack that can drive up to 1000 watts of monolights. It comes with two AC outlets and the battery seems to last for a long time. I just did a 3 hour shoot, taking something like 400 images with two 300 watt-second lights operating at about 80% of full power and my battery level is still on 75%. That's pretty great if you ask me. The inverter is also very portable and weighs much less than I thought it would. I had some questions on the use of the product in the field so I called the manufacturer. They answered immediately and really know their products and are passionate about quality, too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great, cheapest I could find Works great. I power two Elinchrom d-lites with this power supply. My only complaint is the unit I purchased seems to have been used previously to my purchase. The seal was broken and the tape on the battery connections was removed. Either way it works as advertised and is hundreds of dollars cheaper then competitors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A life saver! Though Photogenic promots this power source for photography flash uses, we use this to power IP video transmission on live shoots for our cable access station. That spells freedom from cords and crowd hassards.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bought Two...Neither Lasted Through An Entire Session I have bought two now. Neither has lasted through an entire session. Used withPhotogenic AKC320 StudioMax III 320 Watt both times, no model light in the head, and only used at about 1/2 power. We thought the first time was just bad luck. Second time seems that it's probably a bad product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Skeptic Charged it, plugged in 2 elinchrom brx500. Machines went haywire. Cycled through: flicker/on/flash/flicker. Brand new, first use. I'm not sure if it was the issue, but grabbed a long extension cord and plugged in the lights to a hardwire source, worked perfect.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's ok I guess Since this is my first time ever using this type of product, it's really hard for me to compare it to its peers. It recharges really fast, and it's pretty straight forward to use. I use it with a Photogenic PL1500 and the recycle time is sort of slow to me compared to a wall plug in but this combo is so much better than using a shoe mount flash on a stand. The stand clamp and strap are very useful.
